The 2024 Toyota bZ4X , a compact battery electric crossover SUV, is a creation of Toyota. Pioneering the e-TNGA platform, a collaboration between Toyota and Subaru, it represents the debut model in Toyota’s “beyond Zero” (bZ) line of emissions-free vehicles. Additionally, it is introduced as the Subaru Solterra in multiple global markets, including Japan, the US, Canada, Europe, and China. Worldwide sales of the bZ4X began in mid-2022, and its design remains unaltered since its inception.
Exterior
Blending sleek modernity with rugged durability, the Toyota bZ4X offers versatility across urban and rural terrains. This design seamlessly unites the futuristic elegance of a battery electric vehicle (BEV) with the enduring strength of SUVs, exemplified by the distinct “hammerhead” front and slender headlights.
With a streamlined side profile, accentuated by a lowered height and slim front pillars, the bZ4X embodies both its innovative platform’s lower center of gravity and authentic SUV character. This identity is further accentuated by thoughtful elements like robust wheel arch moldings, substantial wheels, and prominent rocker panels. The rear features a defining taillight spanning the width, encapsulating the bZ4X’s captivating design philosophy.
2024 Toyota bZ4X Interior
The interior theme is “lagom,” capturing a balanced sense of comfort and space resembling a living room. Soft textures, satin-finish details, and an optional panoramic roof enhance this feeling. The slim instrument panel maximizes visibility and supports the “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road” principle. The human-centered cockpit features a seven-inch TFT display directly in the driver’s line of sight.
The long wheelbase provides ample legroom and up to 452 liters of storage space with adjustable features.
Powertrain
The front-wheel drive bZ4X is equipped with a high-response 150 kW electric motor, producing 204 DIN horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. Its acceleration ranges from 0-100 km/h in 8.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 160 km/h. On the all-wheel drive model, which retains the top speed, acceleration to 100 km/h improves to 7.7 seconds with a maximum power of 217.5 DIN horsepower and 336 Nm of torque. Note that all performance figures are provisional until officially homologated.
The estimated driving range for the front-wheel drive (FWD) versions of the bZ4X stands at approximately 252 miles for the XLE variant and slightly lower at 242 miles for the Limited model.
