Putting things into perspective, Cadillac has set its sights on an ambitious goal this year: the launch of three electric vehicles, with one of them being the electric Escalade, now dubbed “Escalade IQ.” The recent sighting of a prototype for the electric Escalade indicates that it will be far from a simple replica of the current gas-powered model
The spy shots reveal a distinctively designed taillight housing on the SUV, wrapping around the rear corners and extending laterally into both sides of the liftgate. This design is reminiscent of the traditional Escalade’s style, suggesting that these housings are likely to continue vertically up into the rear pillars beside the rear glass.
Furthermore, the most recent spy photos provide a sneak peek at the rear window design of the Cadillac Escalade IQ. Apart from that, the new battery-powered SUV will boast 24-inch wheels and come equipped with retractable running boards as a standard feature across a significant portion of its model range.
While Cadillac has remained tight-lipped about the official power, range, or specifications of its new electric SUV, it has been revealed that the Escalade IQ will utilize General Motors’ revolutionary Ultium technology. This cutting-edge platform has already demonstrated its capabilities in powering other EVs, such as the Hummer EV, which boasts an impressive EPA-rated range of up to 314 miles. With this in mind, it is highly likely that the Escalade IQ will offer exceptional performance and a substantial driving range.
On the contrary, five months ago, the American automaker treated us to a teaser video, offering a sneak peek at the vehicle’s exterior design.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that the electric Cadillac will be manufactured at General Motors’ Factory Zero Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center, which is also responsible for producing the Hummer EV, as well as the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Denali EVs.
