In a daring move that combines luxury and innovation, Refined Marques has unveiled a remarkable automotive creation: the customized Mercedes-AMG G63 Cabriolet. This bespoke model, limited to a mere 20 units globally and priced at an eye-watering 1.2 million Euros, marks a significant milestone in the world of high-end vehicles.

The Mercedes-AMG G63, known for its robust and dynamic design, has never been officially released as a convertible by Mercedes. This gap in the market inspired Refined Marques to step in and craft their own interpretation, taking the G-Class experience to new heights. Historically, while the G-Class has seen convertible versions, the G63 variant remained an untapped potential – until now.

This venture was sparked by a unique request: the owner’s five-year-old son envisioned a Brabus G700 with a soft-top roof, igniting a dream that soon turned into a tangible reality. The owner, leveraging his resources and connections, crafted a one-off model. This personal project quickly caught the attention of luxury car enthusiasts, especially among owners of the G500 Cabriolet Final Edition 200, who were seeking a contemporary version that addressed previous shortcomings.

Customers desired enhancements such as rear suicide doors for easier access, increased rear legroom, and a more user-friendly mechanism for the roof and trunk. Beyond these practical improvements, there was a clamor for more power under the hood.

The Customized Mercedes-AMG G63 Cabriolet is a powerhouse, equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, boasting 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. This places it in the league of high-performance SUVs like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Lamborghini Urus, offering a blend of strength and luxury that is hard to match.

Reflecting on the G500 Cabriolet Final Edition 200, the last convertible iteration from Mercedes, it’s evident how much the automotive landscape has evolved. That model, with its 5.5-liter V8 engine and limited production run, was a precursor to the more refined and powerful G63 Cabriolet.

Another notable mention is the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, which combined the ruggedness of the G63 4×4 Squared with Maybach luxury, and the custom convertible created by Jon Olsson. These models set a precedent for luxury and customization in the convertible SUV segment.

The development of the G63 Cabriolet was an 18-month journey, featuring a team of Formula 1 and supercar mechanics based in Germany. One of the key focus areas was simplifying the roof mechanism, making it operable with minimal effort and even while the vehicle is in motion.

The first of these exclusive vehicles made its debut in Monaco, showcasing a stunning China Blue exterior paired with a red leather interior and blue stitching, with a matching red soft top. However, each of the 20 units will be distinct, offering clients the opportunity to customize everything from the paint to the interior specifications.
