Ram has announced a significant change in its lineup with the discontinuation of the Hemi V-8 in its updated 2025 1500 pickup, leading to the phase-out of the supercharged TRX model. In its place, the brand is set to introduce a new six-cylinder model known as the Ram 1500 RHO (Ram High Output). A recent teaser video from Ram gives us a glimpse of what to expect with the RHO, featuring a Ram 2500 Rebel towing a camouflaged pickup across a desert landscape. Accompanied by dramatic narration hinting at an impending storm, the video concludes with an intriguing promise of a delivery not to be missed, set for unveiling on April 25.

The anticipation surrounding the Ram 1500 RHO is substantial, as it aims to compete directly with robust desert off-roaders like the Ford’s V-6 F-150 Raptor, Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, and Chevrolet Silverado ZR2. These vehicles are renowned for their high-speed, desert terrain capabilities, and the RHO is poised to be Ram’s contender in this specialized segment. Scheduled to join the Ram 1500 lineup in the third quarter of this year, the RHO will debut with a powerful 540-horsepower “Hurricane” twin-turbo inline-six engine.

While the Ram 1500 RHO shares several features with its predecessor the TRX, such as 35-inch tires, a wider track, and a rugged suspension optimized for desert conditions, the absence of the supercharged V-8 is expected to make the RHO more accessible price-wise. The TRX previously approached the $100,000 mark, but the RHO is anticipated to start closer to $80,000, making it a more attainable option for enthusiasts.

As we approach the April 25 reveal, Ram is likely to ramp up its promotional efforts with more teasers, stirring excitement and curiosity among potential buyers and fans of the brand. The transition from the iconic TRX to the innovative Ram 1500 RHO marks a new chapter for Ram, reflecting a shift towards integrating more advanced and efficient engine technologies without sacrificing the high-performance standards expected by its customers.
