If you’re on the hunt for the most budget-friendly electric car from Cadillac, we have some exciting news for you, esteemed reader!

After three years of eager anticipation for Cadillac’s foray into electric vehicles with the Optiq, the car has finally made its debut in the domain of compact luxury SUVs, positioning itself in a category below the mid-sized Lyriq family.

While details remain scarce at this early unveiling, the fact that the Cadillac Lyriq starts at $57,195 globally, and the anticipated pricing of the upcoming Escalade EQ is expected to surpass this figure, presents a positive development. Cadillac is indeed offering an electric car at a more affordable price point, catering to a broader segment of customers.

The upcoming Cadillac Optiq model is projected to share the Ultium wheelbase with Chevrolet Equinox EV cars, owing to its close size resemblance to the Equinox. While pricing is expected to align, given the Optiq’s status in the luxury segment, a slight premium is anticipated.

For context, dear reader, let’s recall that the Equinox electric car in its front-wheel-drive variant houses a single electric motor generating 210 horsepower, while the four-wheel-drive models boast a dual motor with 290 horsepower. Therefore, it’s plausible to anticipate power figures in the vicinity of these numbers for the Optiq model. The high-performance Equinox variants achieve a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in approximately 6 seconds.

Regrettably, the battery specifications for the Cadillac Optiq are currently undisclosed. However, if it shares the Equinox electric battery, the car is poised to cover a range of 300 miles on a single electric charge. With DC fast charging, a 10-minute charge could provide a range of 70 miles.

Considering GM’s adoption of the North American Standard Charging (NACS) method, aligned with Tesla, charging the Optiq is expected to be seamless.

As for its exterior aesthetics, evident in the provided images, the Optiq boasts an elegant and contemporary design that draws inspiration from other Cadillac models, featuring a distinctive grille and dramatic vertical daytime running lights.

While the design may not exude the same futuristic identity as the Lyriq, the Cadillac Optiqq looks striking in the showcased orange color. Streamlined door handles, 21-inch wheels, and elongated vertical taillights accentuate the rear fascia, presenting a stylish design touch with a pair positioned at the top adjacent to the rear window and another below.

Cadillac, yet to unveil images of the interior cabin or disclose pricing details, has assured that more information will be provided next year. Nevertheless, expectations suggest that the starting price for the Cadillac Optiq might hover around $40,000, making it the most affordable electric car from Cadillac.
