Amidst the widespread abandonment of small sedans by automakers, the 2024 Nissan Sentra has managed to endure the unfavorable conditions and remains on the market. In a bid to revitalize its slipping sales numbers, Nissan has introduced a refreshed 2024 Sentra, featuring enhanced style and improved efficiency. Will these updates be the catalyst needed to reignite interest in the Sentra?

In terms of its exterior, the 2024 Nissan Sentra has undergone a refreshing transformation, drawing inspiration from the recently updated Altima. Notably, the front grille has been revised, replacing the V-shaped chrome applique with two chrome slats positioned alongside the grille. The headlights have also received updates to enhance the overall look. The Sentra now boasts new 16-inch and 18-inch wheel designs, adding a touch of sophistication to its appearance. Furthermore, the sporty SR trim features new red SR badges on the grille, adding a dash of sportiness. On the inside, although the overall interior remains largely unchanged, there are notable updates such as new black interior bezels and reimagined SR orange stitching elements, aligning them with the orange accents found in other Nissan models.

While the exterior changes to the 2024 Nissan Sentra may be subtle, the focus of this refresh lies in the engine and transmission enhancements. Nissan has made notable revisions to deliver an improved driving experience. One significant addition is the inclusion of idle stop/start technology, which helps conserve fuel by automatically shutting off the engine when the vehicle is stationary and idling. Additionally, Nissan has fine-tuned the continuously variable transmission (CVT) for better fuel efficiency and smoother operation. In the Canadian market, the Sentra still offers the option of a six-speed manual transmission for the S and SR trims. However, in the U.S. market, the CVT automatic transmission comes as the standard choice for all Sentra models. These updates aim to enhance both the performance and efficiency of the Nissan Sentra for a more satisfying driving experience.

While Nissan has indicated that the 2024 Sentra boasts improved efficiency, specific economy figures have not yet been disclosed. In the previous model year, the Sentra achieved a combined fuel economy of 33 MPG, which is on par with the swifter and more potent Honda Civic Hatchback. With the introduction of the refreshed styling, there is hope that the Sentra can regain its position at the forefront of consumer preferences. By combining updated aesthetics with potential advancements in efficiency, the Sentra aims to reestablish itself as a compelling option in its segment.
