When it comes to supercars, the options are plentiful for those with deep pockets and an empty garage. From Ferrari and McLaren to Pagani and Gordon Murray, there’s no shortage of choices. NBA legend Michael Jordan recently expanded his impressive vehicle collection with the addition of a rare Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster.
A picture shared by Hennessey Performance features the CEO, John Hennessey, alongside Michael Jordan at Grove XXII, the basketball legend’s exclusive Florida golf club. In the photo, they stand beside the Venom F5 Roadster, showcasing its sleek carbon-fiber body and eye-catching yellow pinstripes. Although the image doesn’t provide an extensive view of the supercar, it highlights its distinctive design elements.
Beneath the exterior of the F5 Roadster lies a centrally positioned 6.6-liter V8 engine, equipped with twin-turbochargers. This powerhouse generates a remarkable output of 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 pound-feet of torque, seamlessly channeled through a seven-speed, single-clutch semi-automatic transmission. Hennessey proudly asserts that this extraordinary supercar has the potential to surpass 300 miles per hour, earning it the coveted title of the world’s fastest and most potent convertible.
The resemblance between the Venom F5 Roadster and its coupe counterpart is striking, particularly at the front end. However, significant distinctions emerge within the cabin. Notably, a lightweight carbon-fiber roof panel, weighing a mere 18 pounds, can be effortlessly detached. At the rear, a newly introduced tempered glass offers a tantalizing glimpse of the formidable engine situated behind the passenger compartment. Crafted from a high-strength material, this glass can withstand extreme temperatures
The absence of a roof in the Roadster model does result in a slightly higher curb weight, although the increase is minimal. The standard F5 has a weight of 2,998 pounds, while the F5 Roadster comes in at just under 3,100 pounds
Among a select group of individuals, Jordan joins the exclusive ranks of only 30 owners of the F5 Roadster, as Hennessey deliberately restricts its production. While the company initially planned to create only 24 units of the coupe, the convertible variant is comparatively less scarce. Accompanying the higher production volume is a higher price point, with the Venom F5 Roadster commencing at $3 million, surpassing the $2.1 million cost of the coupe.
