Drift Mode Added to the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

Despite being a fully electric car, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has a Drift Mode that allows it to drift on the track!

It has been just over a year since the Korean company Hyundai revealed the Ioniq 5 N. The high-performance electric crossover enters the 2025 model year in its home country, South Korea, with a significant number of surprising changes. There are no modifications to the design, as most of the work focused on providing a more engaging driving experience.

These are the images of the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N:

The Ioniq 5 N now features a drift mode, which enables the car to drift sideways by selecting from 10 levels of assistance. When set to level 10 (the professional mode), the sporty electric vehicle reduces the stability control intervention, allowing drivers to “drift more freely.” Additionally, the system can now better detect appropriate drifting conditions, which Hyundai assumes will primarily be on the racetrack.

There’s also a feature called “Downshift Memory.” This function is designed for track use and “allows the car to store commands without changing gear and shifts gears when the car reaches the allowable RPM for downshifting.” It’s worth mentioning that the older Kona N had a similar downshift memory system to prevent downshifting at high RPMs.

To further enhance its Drift Mode performance, artificial engine sound is automatically activated when the launch control function is engaged. The N Active Sound+ system mimics the sound of the 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine found in the Hyundai Elantra N.
