In today’s episode of Test Drive Program, we will introduce the new 2020 Highlander, which our colleague Karim Deeb described with a meaningful sentence, “The best family car presented by Japan in recent years.”
This is the fourth and all-new generation of Toyota Highlander, which is the big sister of the Toyota RAV4 that we have previously test-driven in detail.
- The first generation was made from 2001 to 2007.
- The second generation was made from 2008 to 2013.
- The third generation was made from 2014 to 2019.
- The fourth generation, which we are testing today, began production this year 2020, and this generation marks the availability of this model for the first time in the Arab Gulf market.
Meet the new 2020 Highlander:
Karim said that the new Toyota Highlander is available in two categories at Al-Futtaim Motors, Toyota dealer in the United Arab Emirates, and our team – asl always- has test-driven the fully-loaded version.
The new Toyota Highlander is available in our markets with a hybrid version that combines the work of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors, for a total power of 240 hp. This car works with a four-wheel-drive system “E4”, and comes with a CVT gearbox.
The Hybrid Highlander has a 65-liter fuel tank and consumes fuel at an average rate of 19.5 to 20 km per 1 liter of gasoline.
In some global markets, this car also comes with a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine that generates 295 horsepower and is connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The price of the new 2020 Toyota Highlander starts in the UAE market from 42,200 USD, which is equivalent to 154,900 AED or 158,150 SAR, and the price of the new Highlander that Karim tried in this episode starts from 48,980 USD, equivalent to 179,900 AED or 183,700 SAR.
