BMW, the German automotive company, has confirmed that the production of the next-generation 2024 BMW X3 luxury SUV is scheduled to begin in the near future.

Since 2017, the BMW X3 (G01 generation) has been on the market, and it underwent a facelift in 2021, along with updated M variants. However, it was widely anticipated that BMW’s highly popular SUV would eventually undergo a more substantial transformation. BMW has now officially confirmed that the awaited makeover will take place next year for the X3.

In an official press release, the automaker has announced that the next-generation BMW X3 will be produced in South Africa as a plug-in hybrid model, targeting global markets. The production is set to commence in 2024. To support the electrification efforts, the renowned Rosslyn plant, with a manufacturing legacy dating back to 1968 and a record of 1.6 million vehicles produced, will receive a significant investment of $218 million

While BMW has not provided additional information about the new X3, spy photos reveal a larger yet familiar design compared to the current model. However, indications suggest that the upcoming plug-in X3 will offer increased power and improved electric range. As a point of reference, the current X5 PHEV boasts an electric range of 40 miles, indicating the potential for enhanced range in the new X3 PHEV.
