The 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe marks the debut of the fifth-generation model, a five-door crossover SUV available with either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Named after Santa Fe, New Mexico, this vehicle was first introduced as Hyundai’s inaugural SUV for the 2001 model year. The latest iteration was announced in 2023.

Exterior :

The all-new Hyundai Santa Fe’s exterior design exudes a bold, powerful presence, ideal for both urban and outdoor lifestyles. Featuring a long wheelbase, rectangular surfacing, and refined elements, its sophisticated side profile is enhanced by clean sculpting and robust wheel arches. The front displays an elevated hood line with H-shaped headlamps, while the rear boasts a wider liftgate with matching H-shaped taillamps.

Developed under the codename MX5, the Santa Fe caters to the growing global trend of outdoor lifestyles with its boxy design, reducing the drag coefficient to 0.29 from the previous 0.33. It is 55 mm longer than its predecessor, maintaining the same width, with a wheelbase extended by 50 mm to 2,815 mm. The headlamps and taillamps feature an H-shaped design, with a light bar across the front grille. Angular wheel arches add to its rugged look. The Santa Fe is available in 11 exterior colors in North America.

The all-new Hyundai Santa Fe features a thoughtfully designed interior with horizontal and vertical elements that mirror its exterior. Highlights include an H-shaped motif on the upper instrument panel and air vents, a UV-C sterilization compartment, and dual 15W wireless charging. The Panoramic Curved Display integrates a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and infotainment system for improved visibility and a premium feel.

The extended wheelbase provides more interior space, and fully foldable second- and third-row seats create a versatile rear area. Eco-friendly materials are used throughout the interior and exterior, including recycled carbon materials in the glossy black trim. The Santa Fe offers four interior color options: Obsidian Black, Supersonic Gray, Pecan Brown, and Forest Green.

 

 

Powertrain

The regular gas version of the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe features a powerful powertrain. It is equipped with a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo engine, delivering 277 horsepower at 5800 RPM and 311 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 RPM. The engine boasts an 11.0:1 compression ratio, a DOHC 16-valve valve train, and employs both Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) and Multi-Port Injection (MPI) fuel systems. Additionally, it includes the Idle Stop & Go feature for improved efficiency.

Drivetrain options include standard Front Wheel Drive (FWD) and optional HTRAC All Wheel Drive (AWD), both paired with an 8-speed Wet Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) with SHIFTRONIC®. The fuel tank has a capacity of 17.7 gallons.

Fuel efficiency estimates for the FWD version are 20 MPG in the city, 29 MPG on the highway, and a combined 24 MPG.

 

Hybrid :

The hybrid version of the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe boasts a sophisticated powertrain that delivers both efficiency and performance. It features an inline 4-cylinder turbo engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters, generating 178 horsepower at 5500 RPM and 195 lb.-ft. of torque at 1500-4500 RPM. This engine, with a 10.5:1 compression ratio, operates with a DOHC 16-valve valve train and a Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) fuel system. The hybrid system includes an electric motor that provides an additional 44.2 kW (60 hp) and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 1.49 kWh and operates at 270 volts.

The combined hybrid system output is 231 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,000 – 4,100 RPM. The drivetrain options include standard Front Wheel Drive (FWD) and optional HTRAC All Wheel Drive (AWD), paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC®. Fuel tank capacity is 17.7 gallons.

EPA estimates for fuel efficiency are impressive, with the Front Wheel Drive (FWD) version achieving 36 MPG in the city, 35 MPG on the highway, and a combined 36 MPG. The HTRAC All Wheel Drive (AWD) version offers 35 MPG in the city, 34 MPG on the highway, and a combined 34 MPG.
