The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is a significant milestone for Cadillac, as it marks their first fully electric vehicle, and it also utilizes the BEV3 platform shared with the HUMMER EV. However, the Lyriq is quite distinct from the HUMMER, belonging to the mid-size luxury crossover class. It was introduced as a 2023 model in 2022 and hasn’t undergone any changes for the 2024 model year, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2024.
Exterior
The new design of the Lyric marks Cadillac’s entry into the world of fully electric cars. The front end features a closed front grille, optimizing aerodynamics, and accentuating the car’s curves. The SUV is equipped with 22-inch wheels and 360-degree cameras for improved visibility.
2024 Cadillac Lyriq Interior
The Lyriq boasts a rich-looking interior with upscale features like metallic brightwork and open-pore wood on the door panels and center console. A large storage tray between the front seats adds a touch of style with bright blue leather upholstery.. The absence of a gasoline engine results in a quiet cabin, further enhanced by advanced noise cancellation technology. The interior is spacious, but the cargo room is not as generous as some other SUVs, and there’s no storage space under the hood.
. The cars come equipped with a panoramic roof, and the center console boasts a massive 33-inch screen that extends from the dashboard, offering a plethora of features and functionalities.
Powertrain
The Lyriq is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. The rear-wheel drive model features a 340-hp electric motor on the rear axle and achieved a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.7 seconds during testing, which is quite fast for a mid-size SUV but slightly slower than some EV competitors. The all-wheel drive version, with dual motors, boasts an estimated combined output of 500 hp and 610 N⋅m, drawing power from a 100 kWh battery that offers an estimated range of 480 km. The battery supports Level 2 and DC fast charging. During testing, the battery had a slightly higher capacity of 102 kWh and provided an impressive range of over 560 km during a winter road trip.
