As the world’s first hybrid car, it has undergone several updates in recent years, including the addition of an all-wheel drive system. Exterior

The Toyota Prius 2023 boasts an exterior design meticulously crafted to minimize air resistance, resulting in enhanced fuel efficiency. Notably, the front grille features an automatic closing mechanism that activates when the car detects that the radiator does not require additional airflow, effectively reducing air resistance even further.

The vehicle comes equipped with Bi-LED headlights and LED taillights. Notably, the taillights have undergone a redesign, which generated significant discussion in the previous model. However, the car has maintained its sturdy wheelbase, rear suspension, and low center of gravity.

The seating in the 2023 Toyota Prius provides comfort and is well-suited for long journeys. The five-passenger cabin offers ample storage space, with a trunk capacity of 776 liters. This capacity increases to 1436 liters when the rear seats are folded down, providing a generous amount of storage for a vehicle in its category.

Powertrain:

The hybrid powertrain system in the Toyota Prius 2023 remains unchanged from the previous model, as it belongs to the same fourth generation. This system combines two engines: a 1.8-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 96 horsepower and 142 Nm of torque, and an electric motor generating 53 horsepower and 163 Newton meters of torque. These engines are supported by a 0.75 kW/h lithium-ion battery. The total power output of this hybrid system is 121 horsepower.

Power is delivered to the front wheels, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h. As for fuel consumption, it averages around 4.4 liters per 100 kilometers.

The Toyota Prius 2023 is offered in a variant that features the AWD-e electric all-wheel drive system. This system incorporates an additional electric motor to control the rear wheels, enhancing the car’s traction and stability. In this version, the car is equipped with a 1.2 kilowatt-hour nickel battery instead of the standard lithium-ion battery.

The AWD-e system is particularly beneficial in colder regions with snow and rain, as it provides improved performance and handling on slippery surfaces. Drivers who prioritize all-wheel drive capability will appreciate this option on the Toyota Prius 2023.

In select markets, there is an additional variant of the Toyota Prius 2023 called the Prime, which is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). The Prime model features a larger lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 8.8 kilowatt-hours.

The distinguishing feature of the Prius Prime is its ability to be charged externally, similar to fully electric vehicles. By relying on electrical energy, the car can travel up to 40 kilometers solely on electric power before the hybrid system engages. This PHEV version offers enhanced electric driving range and allows drivers to conveniently recharge the battery for extended all-electric driving capabilities.
