Toyota has taken a familiar nameplate and pushed it into completely unfamiliar territory. The new GRMN Corolla is the most expensive Corolla ever offered, and with a starting price of more than $64,000, it immediately raises one obvious question. Can any Corolla truly justify that kind of money?
At first, the answer may seem obvious. After all, this is still a Toyota Corolla. But the GRMN badge changes the equation. Toyota is not positioning this car as an everyday hot hatch or a sensible performance bargain. It is treating it more like a limited production collector’s car, using the same kind of scarcity strategy usually associated with brands such as Ferrari and Porsche.
Only 730 units will be built worldwide, each one carrying a numbered plaque to highlight its exclusivity. That alone places the GRMN Corolla in a very different category from the regular GR Corolla.
Built for Collectors, Not Bargain Hunters
The GRMN Corolla starts at $64,360, before destination charges and any dealer markups. That is roughly SAR 241,350, and around 50 percent more than the standard GR Corolla, which starts at about $40,520.
At this price, the car finds itself competing with some serious alternatives. Buyers could consider a Toyota GR Supra, a well maintained used Porsche Cayman, or a number of German and American sports cars.
Toyota, however, is not trying to win a value comparison. The GRMN Corolla is aimed at enthusiasts who care about rarity, track capability, and long term collectability.
More Focused Where It Matters
Under the hood, the GRMN Corolla keeps the same 1.6 liter turbocharged three cylinder engine, producing 300 horsepower. The upgrades are less about headline power and more about making the car sharper, lighter, and more serious on a circuit.
Toyota removed the rear seats entirely, turning the car into a strict two seater. A structural brace takes their place, helping improve chassis rigidity while reducing weight by 30 kilograms.
Torque rises slightly to 410 Nm, while the car also receives a close ratio six speed manual transmission, forged wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, monotube dampers, and an intercooler water spray system designed to keep performance consistent during demanding track use.
Carbon fiber also plays an important role. The roof and front fenders use the lightweight material, while additional aerodynamic elements help give the car a more aggressive and purposeful character.

The GRMN Corolla is not the car to buy if you are simply looking for the best performance per dollar. Its appeal lies somewhere else.
This is a rare, hand built Japanese performance car created for collectors and serious enthusiasts. With only 730 examples planned, it has the potential to become one of the most desirable Corolla models ever produced.
Toyota has clearly understood that rarity can be just as powerful as horsepower. The price may seem difficult to justify on paper, but that probably will not stop every available unit from finding a buyer.
