Production of Pagani Huayra supercar may have officially ended with the introduction of its successor, the Utopia, in 2022, but the Italian automaker is still producing new versions of this iconic vehicle. The latest addition to the Huayra lineup is the Huayra Epitome, a remarkable variant that stands out as the first model to feature a traditional manual transmission complete with a third pedal.
The Huayra Epitome is the brainchild of Pagani’s Grandi Complicazioni special projects division, renowned for its bespoke automotive creations. This exclusive model boasts unique design elements that differentiate it from its predecessors, particularly at the front and rear of the vehicle. While the standard Huayra transmission is a 7-speed automated manual crafted by Xtrac (with the track-only Huayra R and Huayra R Evo utilizing a 6-speed sequential unit), this version has been ingeniously converted to a conventional manual transmission. This transformation involved the addition of a pedal-actuated clutch, a new triple-disc clutch, and a racing-style tripod joint system, all of which contribute to enhanced engine responsiveness.
Powering the Pagani Huayra Epitome is a formidable twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 engine sourced from Mercedes-Benz AMG. In the Epitome, this engine has been finely tuned to deliver an impressive 851 horsepower. The vehicle’s titanium exhaust system features two new outlets mounted in the rear diffuser, designed to function as a blown diffuser, thereby increasing downforce. These outlets are complemented by the signature four high-mounted pipes, a hallmark of Pagani’s design.
The Epitome’s suspension system has also been significantly upgraded. It now includes new active dampers that offer a “super soft” setting, accessible via a button on the center console, to handle rough roads. When speeds exceed 93 mph, the suspension automatically reverts to its firmer setting, ensuring optimal performance and handling.
Other distinctive features of the Pagani Huayra Epitome include redesigned front and rear fascias. The headlight clusters have been updated with a new design and are paired with daytime running light elements that line the side intakes of the front fascia. Another unique element is the rear wing, which connects to the rear fenders—a design specifically requested by the client, according to Pagani.
Although the price tag for the Huayra Epitome has not been disclosed, it is expected to be in the millions. Pagani is known for its willingness to create new versions of discontinued models for its discerning and affluent clientele. These bespoke vehicles are typically based on existing chassis, which helps preserve the exclusivity and heritage of the brand.
The Huayra Epitome will make its public debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the U.K., scheduled to run from July 11-14. Pagani will also use this prestigious event to unveil the Huayra Imola Roadster and a special livery edition of the Utopia.
