2025 Nissan Murano Unveiled, Drops CVT Transmission

The all-new 2025 Nissan Murano has been unveiled, marking the debut of its fourth generation. Notably, Nissan has moved away from using the CVT transmission in this model.

The Murano line first appeared in 2002, and now, in 2025, we see the introduction of its fourth iteration, which is part of Nissan’s latest lineup. Positioned between the Nissan X-Trail and the larger Nissan Pathfinder, this mid-sized crossover stands out among Nissan’s 2025 models.

Key Features of the 2025 Nissan Murano Nissan refers to the new Murano as a “road haven,” and for the first time, it offers the option of front seats with a massage function! Additionally, all versions of the 2025 Murano are equipped with a revamped digital cockpit that includes two 12.3-inch screens. The Platinum version comes with striking 21-inch rims, a first for the Murano line. Standard across all models is Nissan’s Safety Shield 360, a comprehensive driver assistance suite. The exterior has been completely redesigned, and beneath its sleek new look lies a new powertrain, replacing the beloved CVT transmission.

Considering that the previous Murano debuted in 2014 as a 2015 model, the arrival of this new generation has been long anticipated.

Dimensions:

The 2025 Murano has grown slightly in size—it’s 2.6 inches wider with nearly 2 inches more ground clearance. However, its overall length and height remain similar to the previous model. The wheelbase also stays the same at 2,824mm, meaning the interior space is comparable, with marginally more front legroom but slightly less room in the rear.

Design of the 2025 Nissan Murano:

While the exact interior dimensions aren’t its standout feature, the Murano’s iconic design has been its calling card since 2003, and the latest model retains that reputation. Nissan has opted for split headlights in this version, replacing the older, larger headlights with slimmer ones that sit above a balanced grille. This design approach mirrors the new Nissan Kicks, but the Murano maintains its bold V-shaped front grille, accented by integrated LEDs.

The side mirrors have been relocated from the A-pillar to the doors, and the third-generation’s sharply sloped front fenders have been replaced by flatter body lines extending to the rear, where they meet the widened fenders. The signature D-pillar curve, which has been part of the Murano’s design from the beginning, remains, though now enhanced with chrome accents that emphasize a coupe-like roofline.

The rear has been entirely revamped, with sleek taillights that span the width of the vehicle, and the license plate area has been moved lower on the bumper. These changes give the Murano a more refined, upscale appearance.

Interior Features:

As mentioned earlier, the dual 12.3-inch screens dominate the interior of the 2025 Murano, minimizing the need for physical buttons by incorporating digital controls similar to the Nissan Ariya EV. The tech package includes Google’s integrated technology, along with features like ProPilot Assist 1.1, an Invisible Hood View that allows drivers to “see” through the front of the vehicle, and a 3D Intelligent Around View Monitor.

The customizable digital driver display can show multiple configurations, and certain trims offer a color head-up display. Wireless connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard, as is active noise cancellation. However, a premium 10-speaker Bose sound system is available only as an upgrade.

Mechanical Specifications

Along with the fresh design comes a new powertrain. Gone are the V6 engine and CVT transmission, replaced by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. This setup delivers 241 horsepower and 353 Nm of torque. Although it produces 19 horsepower less than its predecessor, the torque has increased by 27 Nm. The vehicle retains front-wheel drive as the standard configuration, with all-wheel drive available as an option.

Price Information The pricing details for the 2025 Nissan Murano will be announced closer to its market release, which is planned for early next year, God willing.
