Jeremy Clarkson Undergoes Surgery to Clear Blocked Heart Arteries

Jeremy Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson, famously known for his role as the former host of Top Gear and The Grand Tour, recently underwent emergency heart surgery due to a serious health issue. The two-hour procedure was carried out to clear blockages in his coronary arteries, and although the situation was critical, Jeremy Clarkson thankfully did not need a full heart bypass.

In his Sunday Times column, Jeremy Clarkson often discusses a wide range of topics beyond cars. While health isn’t his favorite subject to tackle, age and lifestyle choices have started to catch up with him. During a holiday on a small island in the Indian Ocean, Jeremy Clarkson experienced several alarming health problems.

It all began one morning after breakfast when Jeremy Clarkson found it difficult to stand and had to take a moment to ensure his limbs were working properly. Later in the day, he attempted to swim to shore after jumping out of a boat but quickly felt weak and struggled to reach land. Reflecting on the experience, Jeremy Clarkson shared that he “had more water in my lungs than there is in Lake Superior, and I was almost dead.” The day continued to deteriorate as Jeremy Clarkson found even walking down stairs without help to be a challenge. Realizing that something was wrong, he spent the rest of his vacation seated, eating and drinking, while choosing to ignore these serious health warning signs.

After returning home, Jeremy Clarkson continued to disregard his symptoms, even as he felt tightening in his chest. Eventually, the pain escalated, and he was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. Initially, doctors at John Radcliffe Hospital saw no immediate signs of a heart attack and considered sending him home. However, a senior doctor ordered an MRI, which revealed that one of Jeremy Clarkson’s coronary arteries was fully blocked, while another was nearly blocked.

Jeremy Clarkson was then taken into emergency surgery, which lasted two hours, to address the blockages. Fortunately, the procedure was a success, and a heart bypass was avoided. Now 64, Jeremy Clarkson has humorously vowed to make healthier lifestyle choices, joking that he will try to “make celery interesting” moving forward.

Despite his health scare, Jeremy Clarkson recently reflected on his life and career, acknowledging that he feels “too old and fat” to enjoy driving the fast cars he once loved and has little interest in testing vehicles he doesn’t care for. This comes amid news that Amazon will continue producing The Grand Tour, but without Jeremy Clarkson and his co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May, signaling the end of an era for the popular trio.

Jeremy Clarkson’s experience serves as a reminder of the importance of taking care of one’s health, even when work and life are demanding. Though his presence on-screen may be shifting, Jeremy Clarkson’s bold personality and his impact on the automotive industry will remain as influential as ever.
