Leaked Information About The Chinese SUV Designed by Ex-Rolls Royce Designer

As you may remember dear ArabGT followers, a new Chinese SUV concept called E115 produced by the Chinese company Hongqi, has appeared last year at the Guangzhou Automobile Show in China before it appeared again at Frankfurt Motor Show.

This advanced car is distinguished by its exterior, designed by Gilles Taylor who used to work at Rolls-Royce, which explains the luxurious identity that is shown in the body design.

But today, new unofficial information was published by China’s Auto163 website, and It appears that this Chinese concept car, which has an external size very close to the BMW X7, will enter production lines this year.

It is not a secret that factories in China have suspended production since the beginning of 2020 due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus, Covid-19. However, China succeeded in controlling the spread of the epidemic, which is shown by the decrease in the number of new cases, as China recorded 54 new cases yesterday, all but one are imported.

This makes us believe that production lines in this industrial country will return to work soon, and according to China’s Auto163, Hongqi intends on building 51,500 units in the first six months of production.

Mechanically, the 5m long Hongqi E115 will get a couple of electric motors; one motor drives the front axle, generating 218 hp and 350 Newton meters of torque, and a second for the rear axle, generating 299 horsepower and 420 Newton meters of torque. Both motors  will be powered by a 92.4kWh lithium-ion battery

With this drive-train, the Chinese SUV can reach a speed of 100 km / h in 4 seconds and can travel a distance of up to 600 km  (+370 miles) per electric charge.
