Today we will talk for the first time about the possibility of the Bavarian manufacturer introducing a powerful BMW i8 M hybrid sports car
However, before talking about this topic, we would like to remind you of the official information that we provided you with, in the month of December of 2019, which indicated that the production of BMW i8 cars would be stopped at the end of last April, but it seems that the spread of Coronavirus had postponed this date slightly.
This is because i8 production was supposed to end at the same time the Ultimate Sophisto would be released which is a special edition car based on the i8 Roadster, but due to coronavirus outbreak, the debut dates of many cars have been changed.
On the other hand, and according to a report published by Car and Driver website, we can assure you today that a BMW i8 M with more power may be produced over the next few years
The report says that the M Power version would be equipped with a Plug-in Hybrid system, that includes an electric motor and a gasoline engine, with a total power of 600 hp which represents a huge increase over the power of the current i8 cars that generates 369 hp (374 PS).
As you remember, The current BMW i8 is powered by a hybrid system consisting of two engines: the first is an electric engine generating 141 hp (143 PS) and 250 Nm of torque, connected to a two-speed automatic gearbox that provides power to the front axle. The second engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine generating 228 hp (231 hp PS) located at the back, and it is connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission, bringing the combined power of the two engines to 369 hp (374 PS) and 570 N.m of torque.
