Trump Orders 250 Cadillac Escalades for the Secret Service

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the White House has ordered 250 Cadillac Escalades to help modernize the government’s security motorcade fleet.

The new SUVs are expected to replace the aging Chevrolet Suburbans currently used by the U.S. Secret Service.

Trump revealed the order during a visit to General Motors’ Milford Proving Ground in Michigan, where he said Secret Service agents prefer the Escalade. He jokingly described them as “spoiled” and added that the luxury SUVs give presidential motorcades a more distinctive presence.

The order is believed to be linked to a government procurement program announced in March 2025. At the time, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security awarded General Motors a contract worth $14.8 million, with a potential value of up to $40.8 million through 2029.

The agreement covers the development of the next generation of the presidential limousine, commonly known as “The Beast,” as well as a new fleet of supporting security vehicles.

A standard Cadillac Escalade starts at $91,100, but the vehicles prepared for government service will be far more specialized and significantly more expensive.

They are expected to use heavy-duty chassis components, extensive armor protection, bullet-resistant glass and reinforced eight-lug wheel hubs. In practice, they will serve as heavily upgraded successors to the armored Suburbans currently in service, but with Cadillac styling.

During his visit, Trump also watched drag racing demonstrations featuring the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X and the electric GMC Hummer.

He inspected a hybrid tactical truck and an Infantry Squad Vehicle built by GM Defense, and also sat inside the Cadillac Celestiq.

The visit ended with Trump signing the hood of a 2026 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Stars & Steel Edition, a special model created to mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
