The idea is aimed at rural and remote regions where access to workshops and spare parts is limited. Instead of sending fully built vehicles, Toyota wants to offer something simpler and easier to maintain — a platform that can be adapted to local needs and repaired with basic tools.
A Simple Platform for Many Uses
The IMV Origin isn’t a typical truck. It’s a bare-bones base that owners can customize depending on what they need. The cabin has just one seat, positioned slightly off-center, and there are no doors, windows, or decorative features.
From there, it’s up to the buyer to decide what the vehicle becomes — a small pickup, utility truck, ambulance, or even an off-road work vehicle. Toyota calls it a “flexible foundation” for people who need something tough, affordable, and easy to modify.
Built for Durability and Easy Repairs
The IMV Origin’s design takes inspiration from the Hilux and Land Cruiser, with the same focus on function and endurance. The body panels are made of flat steel sections that can be replaced, welded, or reshaped in a small local workshop.
Toyota says every part of the vehicle was engineered to be easy to fix — no specialized tools or advanced diagnostics required. The approach is practical: make it simple, make it repairable, and make it last.
Proven Engines, Familiar Capability
While Toyota hasn’t released full specifications yet, the IMV Origin is expected to use one of the company’s well-known 2.4-liter or 2.8-liter diesel engines, the same as those found in the Hilux. Power should range between 150 and 200 horsepower, with an available four-wheel-drive system designed for rough roads and demanding environments.

Pricing hasn’t been officially announced, but early estimates place the starting figure around $12,000 (about 45,000 SAR). Buyers can order the IMV Origin as a chassis-only model and then build on it as needed.
Toyota’s local partners in Africa and Asia are expected to offer ready-made kits, such as cargo boxes, flatbeds, or passenger modules, which can be added quickly at a relatively low cost.
