Today, we’re excited to introduce the newest Jeep model: the Jeep Wagoneer S, which boasts better acceleration than the Trackhawk equipped with the Hellcat engine.
Jeep previously sold the small electric Jeep Avenger in the European market. Now, it is launching its first electric car for the American market. At an event held last Thursday in New York, Jeep unveiled the Wagoneer S, a fully electric SUV with 600 horsepower, priced at $71,995.
The Wagoneer S is the second vehicle built on the Stellantis STLA-Large platform, following the new 2024 Dodge Charger. It features a 100.5 kWh battery pack, which Jeep claims will provide a range of more than 483 km (300 miles) on a single charge. Although Jeep hasn’t specified the charging rate in kilowatts, it’s known that the charger can handle up to 350 kilowatts, making it one of the fastest-charging electric SUVs available.
According to Jeep, the Wagoneer S can charge its battery from 20% to 80% in just 23 minutes using the most powerful DC fast chargers.
The Wagoneer S has a unique design compared to the full-size Wagoneer, being slightly smaller at 4,887 mm in length compared to the gasoline-powered Wagoneer’s 5,453 mm. In fact, this new electric SUV is slightly smaller than the short-wheelbase Grand Cherokee. This is the sleekest Jeep yet, with a design that lowers the drag coefficient to 0.29. While this won’t surpass the Tesla Model Y’s drag coefficient of 0.23, it is lower than any previous Jeep. The vehicle features a signature grille that illuminates at night.
Inside, the Wagoneer S is a technological marvel, much like the Grand Cherokee and Wagoneer models. It boasts a 45-inch screen divided between the instrument cluster, main infotainment system, climate control, and passenger display. The Launch Edition also includes a standard 19-speaker McIntosh audio system.
Mechanical Specifications of the New Jeep Wagoneer S:
The standard Launch Edition of the Wagoneer S comes with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain, but there’s an option for a single motor setup with 600 hp and 836 Nm of torque. Jeep claims the Wagoneer S can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h (60 mph) in just 3.4 seconds, making it faster than the older Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk with 707 hp.
This electric Jeep is equipped with driving modes for snow and sand, although it lacks the adjustable air suspension found in the Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee models. It also includes the latest safety and security systems, and Jeep provides a Level 2 home charger.
