The Fastest Bugattis Ever Assembled for a Historic Showcase

Bugatti’s Record-Breaking Quartet on Display

A stunning set of photos showcases the fastest Bugattis to ever break speed records, gathered on the track in a scene reminiscent of the Fantastic Four. These record-breaking hypercars truly live up to the name.

You may recall Bugatti’s announcement in September 2019 that it was stepping away from the record-setting race. However, a lot has changed since then. Following Bugatti’s acquisition by Croatian automaker Rimac from the Volkswagen Group in 2021, the company evolved into Bugatti Rimac with a fresh set of ambitions.

In November last year, loyal followers of Arab GT witnessed the Bugatti Mistral claiming the title of the fastest roofless car in history, hitting a blistering 453.91 km/h. This achievement joins the ranks of its predecessors, the Veyron and Chiron, in Bugatti’s legacy of speed. For the first time, all these icons can be seen together in one image.

From left to right, the featured models are:

  • Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport: Former record-holder with a top speed of 431.07 km/h (267.85 mph).
  • Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse: Convertible record-holder, reaching 408.84 km/h (254.04 mph).
  • Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+: Achieved a staggering 490.48 km/h (304.77 mph).
  • Bugatti Mistral: Current fastest roofless car, hitting 453.91 km/h (282.04 mph).

These four extraordinary Bugattis, owned by an Indian collector, collectively generate 5,520 horsepower thanks to their iconic 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engines. The Veyron produces a “mere” 1,183 horsepower, while the Chiron and Mistral each boast an impressive 1,577 horsepower.

Beyond their powerful engines, these supercars have cemented their place in history by shattering speed records. Although the era of the W16 engine is now closed, Bugatti’s future remains bright. The upcoming 2026 Bugatti Tourbillon will feature a new V16 engine paired with three electric motors, producing a combined 1,775 horsepower. This new model aims to reach an ambitious 500 km/h (310 mph).

CEO Mate Rimac has been collaborating with Michelin to develop tires capable of supporting this record-breaking speed. However, achieving such speeds won’t be simple. With Bugatti no longer part of the Volkswagen Group, access to the Ehra-Lessien test track—where the Veyron and Chiron made history—is no longer available. The Mistral’s record-setting run took place at the Papenburg test track in Germany.

Breaking 500 km/h will be challenging, but Bugatti’s drive for innovation shows no signs of slowing down
