Introducing the Aston Martin DB12: A Super Tourer that marks the successor to the DB11 model. Aston Martin has recently unveiled this new model, which initially comes with a V8 engine option. While it remains uncertain if a V12 option will be introduced later, similar to the DB11, the DB12 showcases a remarkable leap in sporting character and dynamic capabilities. It seamlessly blends thrilling driving performance with exceptional refinement, cutting-edge technology, and unparalleled luxury.
Under the hood, the new DB12 boasts a potent 4.0 Twin-Turbo V8 engine, meticulously crafted by Aston Martin engineers. This formidable powertrain generates an impressive output of 680 PS at 6000 rpm, accompanied by a robust torque of 800 Nm ranging from 2750 to 6000 rpm. Thanks to this hand-built engine, the DB12 showcases remarkable acceleration, going from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. Furthermore, its top speed has been set at an exhilarating 202 mph, ensuring an exhilarating driving experience.
The DB12 channels its power to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission, marking the introduction of an Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff) in an Aston Martin DB model for the first time. This innovative E-Diff enhances the vehicle’s cornering abilities across various conditions, delivering a substantial improvement. It empowers the driver with heightened responsiveness, enabling more precise and consistent handling for an enhanced driving experience.
With the DB12, Aston Martin introduces a cutting-edge Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) system that sets a new industry standard. This advanced system incorporates four pre-defined ESP modes, namely Wet, On, Track, and Off, which can be conveniently selected using the button located on the centre console. In addition to the versatile ESP modes, the DB12 also offers five pre-defined drive modes: GT, Sport, Sport+, Individual, and Wet mode. This comprehensive range of drive modes allows drivers to tailor the vehicle’s performance characteristics to their preferences and prevailing road conditions.
The exterior design of the new DB12 perfectly captures a sense of power and strength. It showcases several notable updates, such as a larger re-shaped radiator aperture and re-shaped splitter, which contribute to its commanding presence. The DB12 also features LED headlights with a fresh DRL (Daytime Running Lights) signature and intricate detailing, adding a touch of sophistication to the front fascia. Additionally, the model sports smaller frameless wing mirrors and the latest evolution of the iconic Aston Martin wings badge, further enhancing its distinct and iconic appearance.
The DB12 showcases various performance enhancements, including new generation intelligent adaptive dampers, stiffer anti-roll bars, EPAS, and upgraded brakes. Deliveries will start in Q3 2023, with a Volante model expected soon after.
