From the very first moment BMW lifted the cover off the all-new iX3, you could feel it — this wasn’t just another EV rolling onto the stage. It was the spark of a new story, one that blends BMW’s legendary driving DNA with the future of electric mobility. The iX3 isn’t here to quietly join the crowd. It’s here to make a statement.
Design That Tells a Story
Look at the front, and you’ll notice echoes of the past paired with a bold step into tomorrow. The upright kidney grille tips its hat to the 1960s, but the execution is sharp and modern. Slim twin headlights frame the face with confidence, while smooth surfaces and hidden door handles along the side give the SUV a sleek, aerodynamic presence. Body-colored wheel arches add muscle, reminding you this is still part of the X family. At the rear, BMW’s familiar L-shaped taillights get a fresh interpretation, stretching wide to give the iX3 a distinctive finish.
An Interior That Feels Like Home
Step inside, and the iX3 greets you with an atmosphere that’s equal parts elegant and welcoming. The dashboard sweeps gently toward the doors, almost like an embrace, while fabric panels softly lit from behind create a warm glow. Overhead, a panoramic glass roof reflects heat but floods the cabin with daylight, turning every drive into a light-filled journey. The front seats balance sporty design with plush comfort, and in the back, the bench transforms into a sofa that makes long rides something to look forward to.
Technology, here, doesn’t shout — it enhances. BMW’s Panoramic iDrive wraps sound, light, and ergonomics into a driver-first experience. Panoramic Vision projects information across the windshield so you never take your eyes off the road, while the 3D head-up display makes navigation feel like it’s part of the street itself. It’s high-tech, but always in service of the drive.
Electric Power, BMW Soul
Beneath it all, the sixth generation of BMW’s eDrive technology delivers the kind of numbers that make you grin. Two motors put out 469 hp and 645 Nm of torque, launching the iX3 from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Top speed? 210 km/h. Range? Up to 805 kilometers on a single charge — serious grand-touring territory for an EV SUV.
Charging is equally impressive. At an 800-volt fast charger, you can add 372 km in just ten minutes. Need more? Going from 10% to 80% takes only 21 minutes. And this isn’t just a car that charges — it gives back. With Vehicle-to-Load, Vehicle-to-Home, and Vehicle-to-Grid features, the iX3 can power your gear, your house, or even the energy grid.
The “Heart of Joy”
At the core of the iX3’s character lies what BMW calls the “Heart of Joy.” Think of it as the car’s nervous system, orchestrating motors, steering, braking, and energy recovery ten times faster than traditional systems. The result? Handling that feels sharp and confident, instant reactions to your inputs, and braking that’s buttery smooth thanks to its Soft Stop function.
Smarter by Design
The second brain inside the iX3 focuses on autonomous driving. With twenty times more processing power than the last generation, it delivers smoother, more intuitive assistance. The Symbiotic Drive feature even “reads” your intentions — a light press on the brakes keeps cruise control active, while a harder press disengages it. On highways, the system can take over steering for longer stretches under the right conditions.
And since the iX3 runs on four supercomputers managing everything from dynamics to comfort, software updates will keep the SUV evolving long after it leaves the factory.
Sustainability Done Right
BMW knows being electric isn’t enough. About one-third of the iX3’s components are made from recycled materials — marine plastics in technical parts, fabrics woven from recycled PET bottles — all assembled in a plant that runs entirely without fossil fuels. The payoff? A 34% smaller carbon footprint across the car’s lifecycle compared to the last generation.
When to Expect It
The iX3 50 xDrive goes into production in autumn 2025. European buyers will see it first in early 2026, followed by the U.S. that summer. China, BMW’s biggest market, gets its dedicated version in mid-2026.
