The 2026 Jeep Recon Debuts as a 650 Horsepower Electric Monster

After years of curiosity and teasers stretching back to 2022, Jeep has finally introduced the 2026 Jeep Recon — its first fully electric SUV built from the ground up for people who love heading off the pavement. And from the very first look, it’s clear Jeep wasn’t aiming to make just another EV. It wanted something wild, something fast, and something worthy of the Jeep badge.

A Fresh Chapter for Electric Adventure

Jeep poured real intention into the Recon. This is an EV with attitude — a machine that wants to climb, crawl, and charge ahead with the same spirit that made the Wrangler an icon.

Massive Power: 650 hp and a Shockingly Quick Sprint

Under the skin sit two electric motors that unleash 650 horsepower and 841 Nm of instant torque. Thanks to that, the Recon rockets from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in only 3.6 seconds. For an off-road SUV, that’s borderline outrageous — the kind of acceleration you expect from dedicated performance cars.

Even with all this modern tech, the Recon stays rooted in Jeep tradition. It maintains authentic four-wheel-drive hardware and earns its Trail Rated badge the right way.

Serious Mechanical Hardware for Serious Terrain

Jeep didn’t cut corners. The rear axle features a 15:1 final drive ratio with an electronic locking differential for maximum grip, while the front axle uses an 11:1 ratio with an open differential. Choose the Moab trim and you also get the Selec-Terrain system with five modes, including a dedicated Rock mode built for slow, technical challenges.

Bigger Footprint, More Confidence Off-Road

The Recon carries the Wrangler’s adventurous DNA but evolves it with new proportions. It’s around five inches longer overall, yet its wheelbase is six inches shorter — a setup that improves maneuverability on tight trails. It’s also wider and more planted, while standing nearly the same height as the Wrangler.

It’s a heavy beast at 6,112 pounds (about 2,770 kg), but the instant shove of electric torque makes that weight far less noticeable.

33-Inch Tires and Real Off-Road Numbers

Everything about the Recon feels purpose-built. The chunky 33-inch tires lift the ride height to 9.1 inches and give the SUV excellent approach, departure, and breakover angles — 33.8, 33.1, and 23.3 degrees respectively. These specs put it right up there with the most capable off-roaders on the market.

STLA Platform, Big Battery, and a 402 km Range

Underneath, the Recon shares the STLA Large platform with the Dodge Charger Daytona EV and the Jeep Wagoneer S. A 100.5 kWh battery provides up to 250 miles (402 km) of range, and Jeep limits the top speed to 180 km/h.

And yes, even without a gas engine, the Recon proudly keeps Jeep’s iconic seven-slot grille — now glowing with full LED illumination.

Bold Lines, Red Tow Hooks, and That Wrangler Personality

Up front, a thick bumper pushes forward to guard the electric components, accented by two bright red tow hooks. Out back, Wrangler-style LED taillights, a side-swinging tailgate, and a full-size spare tire complete the rugged look.

Doors Off, Roof Open — The Pure Jeep Experience

Jeep made sure the Recon doesn’t lose the brand’s most beloved feature: the ability to remove the doors. They even come with replaceable storage panels. The side and rear windows can also be taken off, and for an even more open experience, the available Sky One-Touch roof slides back with the press of a button.

A Tech-Forward Cabin with a Massive 14.5-Inch Display

Inside, the Recon feels fully modern. Two tall digital screens dominate the dashboard: a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a huge 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment screen. Most physical buttons have been replaced with clean digital controls, and the Alpine audio system handles the soundtrack.

Fold down the second row and cargo room expands to 65.9 cubic feet (1,866 liters). There’s even a compact frunk up front, sized for a small suitcase.

Jeep will start building the electric Recon early next year at its plant in Toluca, Mexico. The SUV will first hit the U.S. and Canadian markets before expanding worldwide.

As for pricing, the Recon Moab Edition is set to begin at $65,000 — roughly 243,750 SAR.
