Ford has officially confirmed that the next generation of its F-150 pickup truck will arrive by 2029, in what is considered one of the company’s most important projects over the coming years. The F-150 has long been the backbone of Ford’s sales in the American market and remains one of the best-selling vehicles in the United States overall.
The F-150 will not be the only truck getting a new generation, as Ford also revealed plans to launch an all-new Super Duty, alongside a mid-size electric pickup based on the new Ford Universal Electric Vehicle platform. This move reflects Ford’s determination to maintain a strong presence across different truck segments, whether traditional or electric.
This announcement is part of a broader plan through which Ford aims to refresh 80% of its North American lineup by sales volume before the end of the decade. For that reason, the company has created a new product development and manufacturing division to accelerate the rollout of new models and strengthen its competitiveness, especially as competition in the American truck market continues to intensify.
Previous reports had suggested that Ford planned to launch the new F-150 in 2027 before the project was delayed to 2028, but the current official timeline now points to a 2029 arrival. Although that date is still relatively far away, Ford appears keen to give the new generation enough time to deliver major improvements in design, technology, and powertrains.
It is worth noting that the current generation of the F-150 has been on sale since 2020, while the current Super Duty arrived in 2023. That means the timing is becoming right for new generations, especially with Chevrolet preparing to launch the new Silverado 1500 soon. This puts even more pressure on Ford to maintain the F-150’s position as one of the most important and recognizable trucks in America, especially as competition becomes stronger than ever.
