Sixty Years Later, the Dodge Charger Is Still Turning Heads

Dodge is celebrating 60 years of the Charger with a bold new exterior color called Purple Haze.

The new paint option is part of Dodge’s push to give the 2027 Charger more personality and stronger visual presence, especially for buyers who see color as a key part of the muscle car experience.

Purple Haze was designed to stand out. It features a high-gloss clearcoat that changes character depending on the light. Under direct sunlight, the color shows off a bright purple glow, while in the shade it turns into a deeper and richer violet tone.

The color will be offered exclusively on 2027 Dodge Charger models and will be available across the full lineup for $795. Dodge has already started taking orders.

According to the brand, Purple Haze continues its long history with bold and expressive colors, a tradition that began with the famous High Impact paint lineup introduced in 1969. That era gave us iconic shades like Go Mango, Top Banana, and Sublime.

Purple also has a special place in Dodge history, thanks to memorable colors such as Plum Crazy, In-Violet, and Hellraisin.

Purple Haze will make its first public appearance next month at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals.

Dodge says color is especially important to muscle car buyers. In the large car segment, exterior color matters nearly three times more than the industry average, and it ranks among the top three buying factors for Dodge Charger customers.

The updates are not limited to the outside. The 2027 Charger also gets new Petrol Blue leather performance seats with Digital Slash perforation, contrast red stitching, and available red seat belts for a more distinctive cabin.
