A refreshed design and longer driving range headline the arrival of the updated Renault Megane E-Tech for 2027, as the French automaker raises the bar in Europe’s fiercely competitive EV market.
When the Renault Megane E-Tech first debuted four years ago, it represented a cornerstone of Renault’s all-electric future. Now, the French manufacturer has officially unveiled the facelifted 2027 model, introducing meaningful upgrades that go beyond styling changes to deliver exactly what EV buyers want: more range and faster charging.
Renault Megane 2027 Adopts a New Diamond-Inspired Look
Sharper Styling and a Redesigned Front End
The updated Renault Megane E-Tech receives a substantial visual refresh, particularly at the front, replacing the previous daytime running light design with a cleaner and more distinctive appearance.
Key exterior changes include:
- New lighting signature: Inspired by the shape of a diamond, the new design features two groups of four vertically stacked light elements on each side of the front bumper, giving the vehicle a wider and more confident stance.
- Revised front grille: Renault has incorporated dozens of glossy black diamond-shaped elements surrounding the large central logo.
- Updated rear design: The taillights now feature a more pronounced three-dimensional effect, while a redesigned rear bumper includes a sporty diffuser with vertical fins.
Smart Interior That Keeps Physical Controls
While many manufacturers continue removing traditional buttons, Renault has chosen to preserve physical climate-control switches rather than integrating all functions into the touchscreen.
The Megane comes standard with:
- A 12-inch vertical infotainment display.
- A 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster.
One of the most significant interior updates is the addition of a mandatory camera mounted on the A-pillar to comply with new European safety regulations. The camera also functions as a driver recognition system, automatically adjusting personalized settings such as seat position and preferred media selections.
Battery Upgrade Delivers More Range and 25% Faster Charging
The most significant improvements arrive beneath the skin.
New LFP Battery
Renault has equipped the Megane E-Tech with a new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack offering 67 kWh of usable capacity.
As a result:
- WLTP range increases to 500 km (311 miles).
- Ground clearance rises by 20 mm to accommodate the physically larger battery pack.
Faster DC Charging
Fast charging performance has also improved substantially.
- DC charging power increases by 35 kW to a maximum of 165 kW.
- Battery charging from 15% to 80% now takes just 24 minutes.
- Charging times are approximately 25% faster than before.
The new battery continues to power a front-mounted electric motor producing:
- 215 horsepower.
- 300 Nm of torque.
Performance figures include:
- 0–100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.
- Top speed electronically limited to 160 km/h.
Simpler Trim Structure and New Colors
To simplify the buying process, Renault has reduced the lineup to just two trim levels:
- Techno
- Esprit Alpine
The Esprit Alpine model sits at the top of the range and is showcased in the official images finished in Satin Slate Blue.
Renault also introduces new wheel designs ranging from 19 to 20 inches in diameter.
Sales of the updated Megane E-Tech are scheduled to begin across Europe later this year as a 2027 model. Within Renault’s EV lineup, it will sit below the Scenic and above the revived trio of compact electric models: the Twingo, Renault 4, and Renault 5.

Renault appears to have addressed the most important concerns facing EV buyers with the updated Megane E-Tech.
Extending range to 500 km and reducing charging times by a quarter are exactly the kinds of improvements that matter most in the family hatchback segment. Combined with its modern styling and practical interior, the Megane remains one of the smartest European EV options in its class.
