Range Rover has announced its official partnership with the Wimbledon Championship, marking the first collaboration between the world’s oldest tennis tournament and the leading name in luxury SUVs.
The Wimbledon Championship, a key British sporting event of the summer and part of the prestigious Grand Slam tournaments, is watched by millions worldwide. For the first time, Range Rover will serve as the official car partner for 2024, continuing Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) support for the championships for over a decade, following the transition from Jaguar to Range Rover.
Range Rover is known for setting standards and serving as a role model in the luxury SUV category through its modernity, unique improvements, and unparalleled capabilities. These are derived from more than fifty years of development, offering the most luxurious SUVs to customers globally. All Range Rover Hybrid models are available in electric versions, and the first fully electric Range Rover is expected to be unveiled later this year.
A fleet comprising the latest Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Hybrid models will be used to transport players, their teams, officials, and organizers to and from official tournament sites. These vehicles will utilize the charging facilities at these sites to maximize the use of Range Rover’s electric driving range of approximately 120 km.
Reducing emissions is a crucial aspect of Wimbledon’s positive environmental commitment. The charging infrastructure at the newly completed indoor tennis center is powered by renewable electricity, with additional capacity to accommodate increasing numbers of hybrid and electric cars, aiming to achieve net zero operational emissions for the All England Club by 2030.
Geraldine Ingham, Managing Director of Range Rover, mentioned that the Championships, as an iconic British cultural event watched by millions worldwide, provide an ideal opportunity for Range Rover to connect with global customers through creative stories that perfectly embody the elegance and sophistication of their cars, highlighting the similarities between the two luxury brands.
Deborah Jevans, President of the All England Club, which organizes Wimbledon, expressed delight in continuing the long-term partnership with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) with the announcement of Range Rover as the official automotive partner. She particularly noted the presence of a significant number of low-emission hybrid cars in the fleet, with an emphasis on using electric driving mode as much as possible. This step aligns with the goal of achieving net zero operational emissions by 2030.
The tournament is scheduled to be held from July 1 to 14, 2024, at the All England Tennis Club.
