Pricing Details

The 2025 Volkswagen Golf R is now available at dealerships across global markets, including the United States, where Volkswagen has confirmed official specifications and pricing. The starting price is $48,325 (181,218 SAR), which includes a destination charge of $1,225 (4,593 SAR).

Compared to the 2024 model, this price represents a slight increase of a few thousand dollars. However, the additional cost comes with enhanced power output, a refreshed exterior design, and expanded LED lighting.

For those seeking a more distinctive appearance, Volkswagen has introduced the Black Edition, priced at $49,640. This version features black accents on the wheels, brake calipers, and badging, reinforcing its sporty aesthetic.

Performance and Mechanical Specifications

The  2025 Volkswagen Golf R continues to be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but now delivers 328 horsepower, an increase from the 315 horsepower available in the previous model.

While Volkswagen has not detailed the exact modifications responsible for the power increase, it is likely the result of software optimizations or tuning adjustments, similar to those seen in the 20th Anniversary Edition Golf R released in the U.S. last year.

Equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the new Golf R accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. As standard, the model features all-wheel drive, ensuring superior grip and handling. Despite demand from enthusiasts, Volkswagen has confirmed that a manual transmission option will not be available in the 2025 model.

Exterior Enhancements

The  2025 Volkswagen Golf R is instantly recognizable thanks to its redesigned front lighting system, which now extends across the entire fascia, seamlessly connecting the headlights. This design element is inspired by the Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV. Additionally, the front bumper has been updated, featuring newly styled air vents for a refreshed look.

From the side profile, the hatchback showcases new lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels, designed to be lighter than those of the previous model, enhancing overall performance and efficiency.

At the rear, Volkswagen has fitted the Golf R with a revised rear diffuser and round exhaust outlets, replacing the oval-shaped design from the previous generation.

Interior Upgrades and Technology

Inside, the 2025 Volkswagen Golf R receives a new 12.9-inch freestanding infotainment touchscreen, which now integrates artificial intelligence and ChatGPT for enhanced user interaction.

The touch-sensitive climate and volume controls make a return, though it remains unclear whether these controls are now backlit for improved usability.

Other premium features include a sunroof, driver’s seat with memory function (12-way adjustable), leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated front and rear seats, and wireless smartphone charging.

This report highlights the key updates and improvements introduced in the 2025 Golf R, reaffirming its position as a high-performance luxury hatchback with advanced technology and refined styling.
