So What’s the Deal With Porsche’s Wireless Charger?
The brand just revealed an 11-kilowatt wireless charging system for electric cars — and the size of the thing almost doesn’t make sense considering how much tech they packed into it. Think of it like charging your phone wirelessly, but engineered on a whole other level for cars.
The charging pad itself is only 2.3 inches tall and stretches 78 by 46 inches. You park on it, and that’s basically it. After you set up a one-time password on your phone, the pad automatically starts charging your car every time you park over it.

Power is transferred through two copper coils creating an 85 kHz magnetic field. Even better, you don’t have to nail the parking spot perfectly — being off by around 10 cm is totally fine.
Sure, 11 kW isn’t as fast as a big public DC charger, but it’s stronger than most home setups that only push 3–7 kW. In many cases, it matches what you’d get from public AC chargers.
