Bentley has marked 80 years of car production at its historic Crewe factory with a spectacular one-off version of the 2027 Continental GTC.
Revealed during a special gathering at the brand’s famous Pyms Lane headquarters in England, the unique convertible was presented in front of more than 100 Bentley customers and collectors. The celebration brought together the company’s rich manufacturing heritage, its renowned craftsmanship, and its growing focus on an electric future.
The anniversary also arrives as Bentley continues transforming the Crewe site into what it calls its “Dream Factory,” a modern production hub designed to support the next generation of luxury vehicles.
A Bespoke Purple Finish Created by Mulliner
Bentley’s Mulliner division was responsible for creating the special Continental GTC, giving it a paint finish developed specifically for the occasion.
Known as Supernova Purple Ombre, the exterior gradually transitions from Supernova Purple into a deeper Supernova Purple Dark shade. The flowing color effect gives the convertible a dramatic appearance while highlighting the level of personalization available through Bentley’s bespoke division.
The car also features exclusive “80” graphics along its sides, finished with a reversed gradient effect. Special alloy wheels with contrasting color accents complete the exterior design and tie the car into the visual identity of the anniversary celebration.
Inside, the cabin receives embroidered “80” logos on the headrests, along with a custom fascia featuring a hand airbrushed illustration of Bentley’s design studio. The artwork serves as a tribute to eight decades of automotive design and engineering at Crewe.
107 Bentleys Turn Crewe Into a Living Museum
The one-off Continental GTC was joined by an impressive display of 107 Bentley models owned by members of an international collectors’ club.
The cars were arranged in chronological order, beginning with the EXP3, the first Bentley ever delivered to a customer, and continuing through to the 2025 Flying Spur Speed. Together, they transformed the main road through the factory into a living timeline of Bentley’s history.
The display included cars from the W.O. Bentley era, luxurious Derby models, historic Blower Bentleys, and modern vehicles such as the Continental and Bentayga.
Crewe Prepares for Bentley’s Electric Future
The anniversary coincides with one of the largest redevelopment programs ever carried out at Bentley’s headquarters.
The Crewe facility was originally built in 1938 to manufacture Rolls-Royce aircraft engines. Following Rolls-Royce’s acquisition of Bentley in 1931, the site later became an important production center for both luxury car brands.
Bentley has since introduced a new paint shop, a modern design studio, and a dedicated quality excellence center as part of the factory’s ongoing transformation.
The company is also preparing the site for its first fully electric production model. Bentley is converting the oldest building at Crewe into the main assembly area for the upcoming Bentley Torcal.
Eight Decades of Bentley Production
Car production at Crewe began in 1946, following the end of World War II, when the factory shifted from aircraft engine manufacturing to luxury vehicles.
Rolls-Royce and Bentley continued producing cars under the same ownership until 1998. Volkswagen Group then acquired Bentley and the Crewe factory, while Rolls-Royce Motor Cars later became part of BMW Group.
Since then, Crewe has remained the heart of Bentley’s global operations and the exclusive home of its luxury vehicles.
