Today, we’re excited to introduce a race-ready sports truck that is sure to grab your attention: the Nissan Frontier TARMAC concept, set to make its official debut this week at the 2024 SEMA Show for modified vehicles.
For the 2024 SEMA Show, Nissan Motorsports has teamed up with three-time Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg. Instead of focusing on a conventional sports car, they have collaborated on a high-performance concept based on the 2025 Nissan Frontier. This creation, called the “TARMAC” concept, aims to revive the era when midsize performance trucks were a prominent feature at SEMA, the renowned annual event in Las Vegas, USA.
Official Remarks on the New Race-Ready Sports Truck
Chris Forsberg, the Formula Drift champion, remarked on the inspiration behind the concept, saying, “Twenty years ago, having a high-performance truck was definitely cool. But today, you rarely see low-rise, high-performance trucks. I haven’t built a low-rise truck since 2003. It seemed so fun and different.”
The Nissan Frontier TARMAC concept will be displayed from Tuesday, November 5 to Friday, November 8 at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, offering a glimpse of what a potential Nismo version of the 2025 Nissan Frontier pickup might look like if it were ever produced.
Mechanical Specifications
The Nissan Frontier TARMAC concept, a high-performance sports truck designed for racing, is equipped with a 3.8-liter turbocharged V6 engine. This engine delivers an impressive 440 horsepower and 542 Newton meters of torque.
The truck features a Nismo carbon fiber cooling intake and a NISMO cat-back exhaust system. Braking power is provided by a set of Nismo brakes, which are mounted using custom brackets.
Sporty Design and Features
To give the TARMAC concept its aggressive, race-ready appearance, Nissan Motorsports has developed a specialized Nismo Performance Suspension Prototype. This setup includes an adjustable coil-over suspension at the front and a unique C-shaped vent at the rear.
Custom carbon fiber fenders add 4 inches to the truck’s width, enhancing its wide, bold stance. The tailgate spoiler and bed lid are also crafted from carbon fiber. Beneath the fenders, custom 20-inch Nismo wheels are wrapped in 315/35 Yokohama Advan tires for optimal performance.
Inside, the cabin features a custom carbon fiber steering wheel, Recaro seats with bespoke upholstery, and an anodized parking brake designed by Forsberg.
While this standout midsize truck is a thrilling showcase of Nissan’s performance capabilities, it’s important to note that it’s a one-off vehicle created exclusively for SEMA and will not be available for production.
