Mazda has revealed that the 2024 Mazda 3 sedan will come equipped with standard blind-spot monitors for the new model year. However, alongside this update, there is also a notable price increase of $1,620 compared to the previous year’s base model.
Priced at $25,335, including a $1,165 destination fee, the base 2024 Mazda 3 sedan is positioned higher in terms of cost compared to the 2024 Honda Civic by approximately $500, and significantly more expensive than the 2023 Hyundai Elantra, with a price difference of at least $3,000. As for other trim levels, the price increases are less prominent. The Mazda 3 is available in five additional trims.
In addition to the newly added standard blind-spot monitors, the 2024 Mazda 3 sedan also boasts a range of other driver-assist technologies as standard. These include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, a rear door alert, and automatic high beams. As for convenience features, the base model comes equipped with cloth upholstery, 16-inch wheels, keyless start, and an 8.8-inch infotainment display that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, although some users find the interface to be complex.
Priced at $36,615 for the sedan and $37,815 for the hatchback, the flagship 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus model offers a range of standard features. These include a Bose 12-speaker sound system, a surround-view camera system, rear parking sensors, navigation, and traffic sign recognition.
For the Mazda 3, buyers have the option of two different engines this year. The base models, known as 2.5 S, are equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine that delivers 191 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission, although the Premium grade offers a 6-speed manual transmission instead. It’s important to note that all-wheel drive is only available on select trims, out of the seven trims offered for the Mazda 3.
The top-line Turbo models are equipped with a 2.5-liter turbo-4 engine that produces 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque (or 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft with 93-octane fuel). These Turbo models come with all-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard.
The 2024 Mazda 3 hatchback will be available for purchase this summer, followed by the sedan in the fall.
