Manthey Racing has introduced a factory-backed aerodynamic kit for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, transforming it into an even more capable track machine. This upgrade, supported by Porsche, ensures the car’s warranty remains intact. Manthey, partially owned by Porsche since 2013, has spent two years developing and testing this kit on European racetracks, making it a highly refined package for serious enthusiasts.
One of the standout features of the kit is the replacement of the rear window with a carbon-fiber panel, which reduces weight by 25%. Mounted on this panel is a shark fin antenna inspired by the Porsche 963 endurance racer. This aerodynamic element, along with six smaller fins on the roof, directs hot air from the front radiator away from the rear intakes, ensuring the engine receives cooler air. Additionally, the kit enhances the car’s massive carbon-fiber rear wing, fitting it with redesigned endplates to increase rear downforce.
The aerodynamic improvements continue with a larger carbon-fiber rear diffuser, aerodisc wheel covers to reduce drag, and modifications to the front spoiler lip, which now features reinforced carbon-fiber elements and reprofiled Gurney flaps. Dive planes installed ahead of the front wheels further enhance downforce on the front axle. Collectively, these upgrades allow the 911 GT3 RS to generate over 2,204 pounds of downforce at 177 mph.
Beyond aerodynamics, the kit enhances the car’s suspension system. Spring rates are increased by 30% on the front axle and 15% on the rear, while new dampers with separate compression and rebound valves offer precise control. The system incorporates a new control unit with multiple sensors for more responsive damper adjustments. Drivers can switch between Normal, Sport, and Track modes, with Track mode allowing fine manual tuning.
The brakes also see significant upgrades, with steel-sheathed brake lines for improved pedal feedback and optional racing brake pads for ceramic-composite brake systems. These pads deliver consistent performance over a wide temperature range, minimizing fade during intense track sessions.
For those who appreciate aesthetic and functional extras, the kit offers illuminated carbon-fiber door sills featuring the “Manthey” logo, LED door projectors, and decals for both the body and wheel covers. A towing eye is also available for track use.
The package has already proven itself with rigorous testing, and Manthey aims to break lap records at the Nürburgring. The goal is to surpass the current 911 GT3 RS’s lap time of 6:49.32, achieved in October 2022, potentially approaching the 6:43.30 time set by the previous-generation 911 GT2 RS equipped with Manthey components.
Customers in the European Union can order the kit starting January 2025, while non-EU regions, including the United States, will have access by March. Pricing for the kit tailored to the 911 GT3 RS is estimated at $79,973, excluding installation fees, positioning it as a must-have for enthusiasts looking to unlock the car’s full potential on the track.
