Lucid is once again proving that its cars are not just electric vehicles, but advanced technology platforms on wheels. Backed by major investments from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the American EV maker announced on June 9, 2026, a new over the air software update for the Lucid Gravity, bringing features that make the luxury electric SUV more intelligent, more relaxing to drive, and more capable on the road.
As many of you may remember, our colleague Musab Shaasha previously tested the Lucid Gravity and praised its strong performance, spacious cabin, and impressive refinement. With this latest update, Lucid is giving the SUV another serious boost as it continues to challenge the biggest players in the EV world.
The highlight is the arrival of hands free driving on compatible highways through the DreamDrive 2 Pro safety suite. The system can handle steering, acceleration, and braking without requiring the driver to hold the wheel. It can also change lanes when the driver uses the turn signal, first checking surrounding traffic before moving smoothly into the next lane. Lucid has also added automatic overtaking, allowing the Gravity to speed up and pass slower vehicles when needed to maintain a smoother driving pace.
Navigation also takes a big step forward with Google Maps Places API now integrated directly into Lucid’s system. This means drivers can see richer location details, including ratings, recent photos, opening hours, parking information, and improved charging station results. For EV owners, the charging updates are especially useful, as the system can now show real time charger availability and updated station images before arrival.
The update also improves lighting and charging performance. With Adaptive Driving Beam, the headlights can keep high beams active while adjusting the light pattern around oncoming vehicles, improving visibility without disturbing other drivers. Advanced Battery Preconditioning now gives drivers more information about battery temperature and expected peak charging performance before plugging in, helping reduce charging times while supporting long term battery health.
For now, the new software update is available only for Lucid Gravity owners in North America. Lucid says it will expand later to other global markets, including Europe and the Middle East.
In the United States, the Lucid Gravity is offered in two all wheel drive versions. The Touring produces 560 hp, offers up to 542 km, or 337 miles, of range, and starts at $79,900. The Grand Touring raises output to 828 hp, delivers up to 708 km, or 440 miles, of range, and starts at $98,900.
