Jaguar has given us the clearest look yet at what its electric future will feel like from behind the wheel. The production interior of the upcoming Jaguar Type 01 has now been revealed, and it leaves very little of the old-school Jaguar formula behind. There is no attempt to recreate the club-like atmosphere of earlier models with heavy wood trim and traditional luxury details. Instead, the cabin has been designed around a cleaner, more modern identity.
The first thing that stands out is how simple and architectural the layout feels. Straight horizontal lines run through almost every major element, while a long center console stretches from the front of the cabin all the way toward the rear. Similar shapes appear on the doors and across the dashboard, helping the interior feel cohesive without relying on too many decorative elements.
Jaguar has also resisted the temptation to turn the cabin into one giant screen. A large digital display sits directly in front of the driver, but the central touchscreen is relatively compact compared with what we are used to seeing in many new EVs. The steering wheel keeps a familiar two-spoke design with touch controls, and traditional column stalks are still present, which should make the driving environment feel less alien than the styling might suggest.
The four seats are heavily sculpted and deliberately minimal, with very little visible piping or decorative stitching. Jaguar describes the seating position as being inspired by a GT, which fits the Jaguar Type 01’s role as a grand tourer rather than a conventional electric sedan. A narrow glass roof runs far back over the cabin, helping open up the interior without changing its low, dramatic proportions.
Material choice is another area where Jaguar is clearly trying to establish a new personality. Instead of classic wood and chrome, the doors and center console use metallic brass finishes that give the cabin a warmer and more distinctive look. A camera-fed digital rearview mirror is also integrated into the setup, with its display positioned at the base of the windshield.
The Jaguar Type 01 will make another appearance during Monterey Car Week, where Jaguar plans to show the interior while keeping the exterior under camouflage. The complete production car is scheduled to be revealed on October 6, giving us the final piece of what has become one of the brand’s most radical reinventions in decades.
