The start of December 2024 marked the unveiling of the Jaguar Type 00 concept car, a milestone event signaling a transformative era for the iconic English brand. Hosted by Mousub Shashaa, the tour of this remarkable vehicle offers a glimpse into Jaguar’s bold vision for the future.
This concept car represents the first definitive step in Jaguar’s reinvention after 90 years of history. Departing from its traditional logo featuring a cheetah, the brand now embraces a new emblem, symbolizing its evolution into a producer of fully electric, ultra-luxury vehicles.
The Type 00 introduces a groundbreaking design language, both externally and internally, aimed at future generations. It presents a fresh aesthetic that completely diverges from Jaguar’s previous design identity. This concept sets the stage for a production Gran Coupe with four doors and seating for four passengers, expected to debut within two to three years. Jaguar also plans to offer an extensive array of exterior and interior color options, targeting an elite clientele.
The front end of the Jaguar Type 00 stands out with a bold design, featuring the new Jaguar logo in an updated font, reflecting its ownership by Tata Motors, the Indian automotive giant. Despite being fully electric, the car boasts a long front profile, which houses storage space and cooling systems essential for the batteries, located under the vehicle.
Distinctive lighting features define the concept car’s appearance, with sleek, linear LED elements on the front that continue along the roof and rear. Jaguar confirms these modern lighting designs will carry over to the production model. From the side, the concept showcases dramatic butterfly-wing doors; however, the production version will adopt traditional four doors, positioned higher off the ground and with increased width. Massive rims further emphasize the car’s concept status.
At the rear, the design takes a bold and unconventional turn with no rear window and a unique bulge in place of traditional elements. The trunk lid slides upward for access, while sleek horizontal lighting accents create a modern aesthetic. Copper accents feature prominently throughout the exterior and interior, applied in innovative ways.
Inside, the cabin reflects Jaguar’s future-focused identity, prioritizing minimalism and advanced functionality. The design allows for hidden and retractable screens for both the driver and passenger, with concealed storage spaces further enhancing the streamlined aesthetic. A continuous line extends from the front to the rear of the cabin, uniting the interior’s layout. The use of raw, sustainable materials marks a first in automotive manufacturing for Jaguar.
Buttons are nearly absent from the interior, replaced by cutting-edge technologies that enhance the user experience. This innovative design approach ensures the Jaguar Type 00 embodies a forward-looking philosophy, marrying simplicity with advanced functionality, and redefining modern automotive luxury.
