Kia has officially revealed pricing for the 2027 EV3, and the number that immediately stands out is $29,890.
That starting price puts the compact electric crossover below the $30,000 mark before destination fees and makes it the cheapest EV in Kia’s current lineup. It also brings the EV3 into the heart of America’s affordable electric car market, where buyers are increasingly looking for a realistic entry point into EV ownership.
The big question is whether the EV3 is actually the cheapest electric car in America.
The answer depends on how you define it. The market is changing quickly, and pricing can vary once destination charges, incentives, trims, and availability are taken into account. Still, a starting price of $29,890 puts the EV3 among the most affordable new EVs available in the US and makes it one of the strongest value plays from a major automaker.
2027 Kia EV3 Prices
Kia is offering seven versions of the EV3, with prices ranging from just under $30,000 to nearly $46,000. All prices exclude the $1,495 destination and delivery fee.
The entry level EV3 Light FWD starts at $29,890, while the Wind FWD comes in at $34,990. The Land FWD starts at $38,490, followed by the Wind AWD at $38,690 and the Land AWD at $41,690.
Higher up the range, the GT-Line AWD starts at $43,490, while the performance focused GT AWD tops the lineup at $45,890.
That pricing gives buyers a wide spread of options, but the base Light version is the model likely to attract the most attention simply because it crosses an important psychological barrier by starting below $30,000.
What Do You Get for Under $30,000?
The cheapest EV3 is not simply a stripped down city car.
The Light trim comes with a 58.3 kWh battery and a front mounted electric motor producing 201 horsepower. Kia says it can travel up to 356 km, or 221 miles, on a charge.
Buyers who want more range can move up to the Wind or Land trims, which use a larger 81.4 kWh battery and offer up to 517 km, or 321 miles, of driving range.
That puts the EV3 in an interesting position. The base version focuses on affordability, while the higher trims offer the kind of range many buyers now expect from a mainstream EV.
More Power Is Available Too
The EV3 lineup is not limited to efficiency focused models.
The GT-Line and GT versions add all wheel drive, while the range topping GT produces up to 288 horsepower. That gives Kia room to target buyers who want more performance without moving into a larger and more expensive EV.
Fast charging is also part of the package. The EV3 uses an integrated NACS port and can charge from 10% to 80% in around 31 minutes under suitable conditions.
Why the Price Matters
The EV3 arrives at a time when the affordable EV market is becoming increasingly competitive.
