It’s hard to believe that only two years have passed since Xiaomi launched its very first car. And yet, instead of playing it safe, the Chinese tech giant has decided to turn up the heat with the Xiaomi SU7 for 2026. This isn’t a cosmetic refresh or a mild tech update — it’s a deep rethink of the entire car, one that makes it quicker, stronger, and far smarter than before. And yes, it puts the Tesla Model 3 under more pressure than it has felt in a long time.
Faster Charging, More Power, and Range That Sounds Unreal
Most automakers are still busy squeezing small gains out of 400-volt systems. Xiaomi, meanwhile, has jumped several levels ahead. The 2026 SU7 now runs on an advanced 800–900 volt architecture across the lineup, unlocking charging speeds that feel almost unreal.
In real-world terms, the updated SU7 can add up to 670 km of range in just 15 minutes, a massive leap over the previous model. And if range anxiety is your concern, the SU7 Pro now delivers up to 902 km on a single charge under China’s CLTC standard — a figure that forces even established EV brands to stop and take notice.
Performance That’s No Longer Just “Impressive on Paper”
Xiaomi clearly didn’t want the SU7 to be a numbers-only hero. The powertrain has been sharpened across the board.
The new V6s Plus motor becomes standard, lifting output in the base model to 320 horsepower. But the real headline is the SU7 Max, which now pushes out a staggering 690 horsepower, with acceleration strong enough to put it in the same conversation as some serious performance machines.
Ride quality hasn’t been ignored either. The Pro version gains a dual-chamber air suspension combined with CDC electromagnetic damping, aiming to blend everyday comfort with the kind of control you expect from a true performance-focused EV.
A Smarter, Safer Place to Sit
Step inside, and the changes feel just as deliberate. The steering wheel and center console have been redesigned, but the real upgrade lies beneath the surface. Every SU7 2026 now comes standard with LiDAR sensors and the NVIDIA Thor-U computing platform, pushing the car’s autonomous driving ambitions much further than before.
Xiaomi also listened to criticism. A new emergency mechanical door-release system ensures doors can still be opened if power is lost after an accident — a small detail that makes a big difference. Add to that nine airbags as standard, and the SU7 now feels far more confidence-inspiring from a safety standpoint.
ArabGT Take
At this point, Xiaomi isn’t “trying out” the car business — it’s attacking it with intent. While Tesla continues to refine older platforms with incremental updates, Xiaomi has rewritten the rulebook in under two years, upgrading voltage systems, charging speeds, motors, suspension, and onboard computing in one bold move.
With a starting price of around $32,800 (roughly 123,000 SAR), the 2026 Xiaomi SU7 undercuts the Tesla Model 3 in China while offering noticeably stronger specs on almost every front. The real question now isn’t whether Tesla will respond — it’s how long it will take before we see this electric monster officially roaming Arab roads.
