The 2025 Ford Expedition has officially been unveiled, following in the footsteps of its more upscale sibling, the 2025 Lincoln Navigator, which debuted in August.

Engine and Performance Specifications

Under the hood, the 2025 Ford Expedition is powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine delivering 400 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. This engine is standard for the Active, King Ranch, and Platinum trims.

Ford also offers a High Output version, which increases the power to 440 horsepower while maintaining the same 470 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes standard with the rugged Tremor trim and is optional on the Platinum model. In both configurations, power is transmitted to the wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Features Exclusive to the 2025 Ford Expedition Tremor

The Tremor trim adds off-road prowess to the Expedition lineup, featuring 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires and a ground clearance of 10.6 inches. Along with the more powerful engine, it comes equipped with underbody protection for the fuel tank, transfer case, and front axle. Additional features include Raptor-style running boards, a front skid plate, and a Rock Crawl mode. The suspension has been retuned for off-road adventures, and it includes an electronic locking rear differential. The trim also stands out visually with its signature orange accents, consistent with other Tremor models in Ford’s range.

When it comes to towing, the Expedition can handle up to 7,600 pounds. However, with a weight distribution hitch, its towing capacity increases to 9,000 pounds. Depending on the trim, the vehicle is available with wheels ranging from 20-inch to 24-inch, wrapped in 285/40R24 tires.

Interior Design and Features

While the exterior design of the Expedition has evolved, the interior has seen a complete transformation. Gone is the tablet-like head unit, replaced with a sleek new setup. The vehicle now boasts a 24-inch panoramic digital display paired with a 13.2-inch touchscreen, providing more screen space. There are also several physical controls and a power-adjustable center console, which can slide back about eight inches at the press of a button, a feature shared with some of GM’s larger SUVs.

The real innovation is found at the rear, where the Expedition features a split tailgate capable of holding up to 500 pounds, ideal for indoor lounging. Additionally, the integrated seat backrest can function as a table, and there are power outlets in the cargo area to keep your devices charged. This stylish and functional split tailgate comes standard across all models and is powered for convenience.

Advanced Driving and Technology

The new Expedition incorporates Ford’s latest BlueCruise hands-free driving technology, which includes a hands-free lane-changing feature that can be activated by tapping the turn signal.

Pricing and Availability

Orders for the 2025 Ford Expedition will open on October 24, with deliveries to Ford dealerships expected next spring. The starting price for this new model is $61,700 before destination fees, making it around $6,000 more expensive than its predecessor.
