In the vast silence of the Empty Quarter, where sand dunes stretch endlessly under a burning sun, Genesis chose the perfect stage to say something bold. This wasn’t just a reveal — it was a statement.
In a global event attended by Mousub Shashaa, founder of ArabGT, alongside the ArabGT team, the luxury brand pulled the covers off its most extreme creation to date: the Genesis X Skorpio Concept. A vehicle not meant to commute or cruise, but built with one purpose in mind — to dominate the desert and rewrite what Genesis is capable of.
A Desert Predator, Born Not Made
Inspired by the Black Scorpion and its legendary ability to survive where others fail, the X Skorpio looks every bit as aggressive as its name suggests. Beneath its sharp, purposeful design lies a tubular chassis and a full internal safety cage, technology lifted straight from the world of off-road endurance racing.
This is not a show car pretending to be tough. This is a machine engineered for punishment.
Luc Donckerwolke, Genesis’ Chief Creative Officer, summed it up perfectly when he told ArabGT:
“This car reflects our desire to bring a more emotional and dynamic soul to Genesis. It is built to face the harshest conditions you can imagine.”
Power That You Don’t Argue With
There’s no room for subtlety here. The Genesis X Skorpio Concept is powered by a thunderous V8 producing 1,115 horsepower and 1,152 Nm of torque — numbers that feel almost unreal until you see the car sitting on the sand, ready to unleash them.
To keep that power under control in deep, soft dunes, Genesis equipped the X Skorpio with:
18-inch beadlock wheels
Massive 40-inch desert tires
Brembo motorsport brakes, delivering confidence even on steep, shifting sand slopes
Every component serves a purpose. Nothing here is decorative.

Where Luxury Meets Survival
Step inside, and the idea of a traditional interior disappears. The cabin feels more like a mission control room than a cockpit. Genesis integrated the digital instrument display directly into the steering wheel, ensuring the driver never takes their eyes off the terrain ahead.
The front passenger isn’t just a passenger either. A sliding display allows them to act as a co-driver, assisting with navigation across open desert. The seats themselves are engineered to absorb violent impacts — because in a car like this, airborne moments aren’t a possibility, they’re expected.
This is luxury, but rewritten for survival.

More Than One Statement
Genesis didn’t stop with the X Skorpio. The brand also showcased a lineup of adventure-focused concepts that hint at a bigger strategy:
GV60 Outdoors Concept, pushing electric exploration further
GV70 Outdoors Concept, blending elegance with real toughness
GV80 Desert Edition, a desert-special variant clearly designed with Gulf enthusiasts in mind
The message was clear: this wasn’t a one-off experiment.
Why the UAE? Because It Makes Sense
Launching the X Skorpio in the Liwa desert wasn’t about visuals — it was about respect. Genesis understands that the Middle East is one of the world’s true homes of extreme desert driving. Here, drivers demand power, control, and the confidence to attack dunes at speed.
Built using a lightweight yet incredibly strong mix of Kevlar and carbon fiber, the X Skorpio feels purpose-built for exactly that environment.
ArabGT’s Take
After seeing the X Skorpio up close with Mousub, one thing became obvious: Genesis is done playing it safe. The brand is no longer content with competing against German rivals on smooth roads alone.
With the X Skorpio, Genesis has driven straight into the heart of the desert — and left its mark.
This isn’t just a concept car. It’s a challenge.
