Geely didn’t treat the 2026 Beijing Auto Show as just another exhibition—it used it as a bold statement of a “new era” driven by technology. Under the “One Geely” strategy, the company presented a comprehensive vision combining artificial intelligence, extreme energy efficiency, and global expansion, with the Gulf region high on its priority list.
1. Robotaxi Revolution: When AI Drives Like a Human
The headline reveal was Geely’s Robotaxi prototype—an autonomous taxi that goes far beyond a typical driverless car, showcasing the power of its G-ASD intelligent system.
- Computing power: Powered by NVIDIA DRIVE Thor-U processors delivering up to 1400 TOPS.
- Real intelligence: The system doesn’t rely on pre-programmed commands. Instead, it acts as an intelligent agent trained on over 10 billion kilometers of real-world driving data, enabling it to make human-like decisions in real time.
2. i-HEV System: Record-Breaking Thermal Efficiency
In a major technological leap, Geely introduced its new i-HEV hybrid engine, achieving a thermal efficiency of 48.42% (certified by CATARC)—currently one of the highest in the world.
- Fuel consumption: As low as 2.22L/100 km, thanks to the Xingrui AI Cloud Power 2.0 platform.
- Electric performance: With a 230 kW electric motor, the system enables fully electric driving in over 80% of daily trips, delivering a quiet and highly efficient experience.
3. Geely Cruiser: A New Off-Road Contender
The Geely Cruiser grabbed attention, especially from Gulf media, marking the brand’s serious entry into the off-road segment.
- Capability: Equipped with the GVMC motion control system and capable of wading through water up to 800 mm deep.
- Maneuverability: Features Crab Walk for lateral movement and even a “floating mode” for slow water crossing at speeds up to 8.5 km/h—making it a strong contender for desert and rugged terrain.
4. Roadmap For The Gulf: 6 Models Incoming
Geely confirmed, through executives Victor Yang and Dr. Shen Yuan, that its expansion into the Middle East is accelerating:
- Expansion plan: Six models will launch in the UAE by the end of 2026, followed by Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar.
ArabGT Opinion
After 40 years of experience, Geely is no longer just building cars—it’s building an intelligent mobility ecosystem. By combining NVIDIA technology with some of the world’s most efficient hybrid engines, the Chinese automaker appears to have cracked the code for Gulf customers, who demand luxury, power, and reliable technology in extreme conditions.
