The Chinese Geely Galaxy A7 EM has officially entered the Guinness World Records after the plug in hybrid sedan traveled 2,608.360 km (1,620.5 miles) on a single full fuel tank and a fully charged battery, without refueling or recharging.
According to Geely, the record was officially certified by Guinness World Records in the category for the longest distance driven by a mass production plug in hybrid sedan on a single tank of fuel and one full battery charge.
The new achievement surpasses the previous record of 2,369.950 km (1,472.4 miles), which was held by the Chery Fulwin A8L.
The endurance challenge lasted five consecutive days across China, with the vehicle traveling through four provinces: Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, and Guangdong. The route included mountain roads, tunnels, heavy traffic, and continuous uphill driving, making the result far more representative than a controlled highway efficiency test.
Geely Galaxy A7 EM Specifications
Geely launched the Galaxy A7 EM on April 22, with prices starting at 119,800 Chinese yuan (approximately $17,550).
According to the official specifications published by Geely, the sedan is equipped with a 60 liter fuel tank.
Power comes from Geely’s Thor AI Hybrid 2.0 system, which combines:
- A naturally aspirated 1.5 liter four cylinder gasoline engine with a thermal efficiency exceeding 47.26%
- An 11 in 1 electric drive unit
- A single speed DHT transmission
- An electric motor producing 175 kW (235 hp)
The Galaxy A7 EM also features Geely’s Aegis Golden Brick battery, providing up to 235 km (146 miles) of pure electric driving range under the CLTC testing cycle.
An AI powered energy management system intelligently balances fuel and electricity usage while maintaining fuel consumption at around 2 liters per 100 km, even when the battery charge is low.
Strong Sales Momentum
This record comes as Geely Galaxy, Geely’s dedicated new energy vehicle brand, continues its strong market performance. In June 2026, the brand sold 108,206 vehicles worldwide, representing 19.9% year over year growth and a 32.4% increase compared to the previous month.
