The first 2025 Lucid Gravity production model has officially rolled out from Lucid Motors’ factory in the United States. The brand-new electric SUV made its debut in front of the factory workers at the Casa Grande, Arizona plant.
Back in July 2024, Lucid Motors announced that the Gravity SUV had entered pilot production at the Arizona facility. Now, just five months later, the first customer-ready vehicles are being produced, marking a significant milestone for the company.
Lucid Motors remains one of the most promising electric vehicle startups, despite its ongoing financial challenges. Currently, the company produces only a limited number of vehicles annually and has a single model lineup. Lucid’s survival largely depended on a crucial $1 billion investment from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which prevented the company from collapsing under financial pressure.
For those who may not recall, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund committed to supporting Lucid Motors despite its considerable financial losses. This investment appears to be paying off, with Lucid reporting better-than-expected performance for the third quarter of 2024. Thanks to more affordable versions of the Lucid Air sedan and modest success in the European market, the company doubled its third-quarter deliveries, reaching 2,781 vehicles.
With the launch of the Gravity SUV, Lucid Motors aims to solidify its presence in the electric vehicle market. After successfully completing pilot production, Lucid has now begun producing vehicles for customers. A recently released video shows the first Gravity SUVs rolling off the assembly line, though specific details about these initial deliveries remain undisclosed. The first customers are expected to receive their SUVs in early 2025.
