Egypt’s President Receives a Turkish-Made Electric SUV

During his official visit to Cairo, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chose a distinctly modern gesture for his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi — gifting him a luxury Turkish-built electric SUV, the Togg T10X.

The moment went beyond a simple handover. According to the Egyptian presidency, President El-Sisi personally inspected the car at Al-Ittihadiya Palace before getting behind the wheel himself, with President Erdoğan riding alongside him. Together, they drove to the Egyptian–Turkish Business Forum in Nasr City — a quiet but powerful image combining politics, technology, and national pride.

A Familiar Move With a Modern Message

This wasn’t an isolated gesture. President Erdoğan has made a habit of presenting the Togg as a diplomatic gift, previously offering the same electric SUV to several Gulf leaders during his 2023 regional tour, including leaders of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar.

The message is clear: Togg isn’t just a car — it’s Turkey’s statement that it belongs in the global electric mobility conversation.

What Makes the Togg T10X Special?

The Togg T10X holds a special place in Turkey’s automotive story. Launched in 2023, it’s the country’s first domestically produced electric vehicle, positioned as a compact luxury SUV.

Built on a modern, modular EV platform, the T10X is offered with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and two battery sizes that allow for a driving range stretching beyond 500 kilometers, depending on configuration. Fast charging brings the battery from 20% to 80% in under half an hour — a practical touch for real-world use.

Digitally, the car is always connected, receiving over-the-air updates via 4G and 5G networks, while advanced battery and thermal management systems help ensure long-term reliability.

Performance That Matches the Image

In its rear-wheel-drive form, the T10X delivers 218 horsepower, reaching 100 km/h in just over seven seconds. Opt for all-wheel drive, and output jumps to 435 horsepower, dropping the sprint time to under five seconds — numbers that firmly place it in modern premium territory.

Add to that a suite of driver-assistance systems and smart displays, and the T10X positions itself as more than a symbolic vehicle — it’s a genuinely competitive one.

The Bigger Picture

With a starting price of around $49,000 in Turkey, the Togg T10X represents more than luxury. In this case, it represents technology, ambition, and a new chapter in regional automotive storytelling.

And in Cairo, it also became a reminder that sometimes, diplomacy drives forward — quietly, electrically, and with intent.
