Nissan Egypt has officially begun local production of the new Nissan Magnite at its manufacturing facility in 6th of October City, Giza, under the theme “A New Era of Manufacturing in Egypt.”
According to a statement issued by the Egyptian Cabinet, Egypt has become the first country in Africa to manufacture the Nissan Magnite.
First Locally Produced Nissan Magnite Rolls Off the Line
The new production line was inaugurated and the first Egyptian-built Nissan Magnite rolled out in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, alongside government officials and Nissan executives.
The official statement revealed that the locally assembled Nissan Magnite contains more than 55% local content.
To support production, Nissan upgraded its manufacturing facilities, increasing the plant’s total annual capacity to 50,000 vehicles. The new Magnite production line alone adds approximately 10,000 vehicles per year to the factory’s output.
Engine and Features
The Nissan Magnite is powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 100 horsepower. Fuel consumption is rated at 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
According to Nissan, the vehicle complies with Euro 6 emissions standards and comes equipped with six airbags, in addition to a range of safety and driver assistance systems.
Backed by New Investments
The project stems from a memorandum of understanding signed between Nissan and the Egyptian government on December 4, 2024. Under the agreement, Nissan committed an additional $45 million investment to upgrade its passenger vehicle assembly operations and prepare for production of the new model.
Nissan Egypt’s factory, which is wholly owned by the global automaker, employs more than 1,000 people directly and supports approximately 5,000 indirect jobs through suppliers and business partners.
According to the company, Nissan’s total investment in Egypt has now exceeded $276 million, while local production has reached roughly 350,000 vehicles over the past two decades.
Record Production and Market Performance
The factory recorded its highest annual production last year, assembling more than 28,000 vehicles while operating on a two-shift schedule.
Meanwhile, Nissan sold nearly 32,000 vehicles in Egypt, achieving an overall market share of 15.6%.
The company also led Egypt’s passenger car segment during 2025 with a market share of 18.6%.
Egypt as an Export Hub
Nissan plans to leverage Egypt’s strategic location as a manufacturing and export base for several African markets.
The company has already exported more than 25,000 vehicles from Egypt in recent years, and local production of the Magnite follows the model’s introduction in African markets including South Africa, Morocco, and Tunisia.
