At a time when the car world is already questioning the future of electric muscle cars, Dodge has made a move that caught almost everyone off guard. The brand has officially opened order books for the Charger Daytona Scat Pack for the 2027 model year—and with it comes a massive price increase, despite clear signs that current models are struggling to sell.
The surprise here isn’t about performance or design changes. It’s the timing. Dodge is pushing forward with a significantly higher price even as 2025 Charger Daytona EVs continue to sit on dealer lots across the United States, waiting for buyers.
As Dodge works to convince long-time V8 loyalists to embrace electrification, the reality on the ground hasn’t been kind. Inventory remains high, demand is soft, and yet the company has chosen to raise the asking price instead of adjusting its strategy. Naturally, that has left many wondering whether Dodge is trying to reset expectations—or simply testing how far brand loyalty can stretch.
Looking at the numbers makes the decision even harder to digest. The 2026 Charger Daytona Scat Pack carried a starting price of $59,995. For 2027, that figure jumps to $72,495, marking a sharp $12,500 increase in a single model year. In today’s EV market, that’s a bold move—some would say a risky one.
The contrast becomes even more uncomfortable when you look at real-world pricing. While Dodge is asking more than $72,000 for the upcoming 2027 model, reports suggest some dealers are offering 2025 Charger Daytona EVs for under $40,000 just to move inventory. That creates a price gap of more than $32,000, making it incredibly difficult for buyers to justify choosing the newer model.
So what does Dodge offer in return for that extra money? Surprisingly little in terms of raw performance. The biggest update for 2027 is charging convenience. The Charger Daytona Scat Pack will finally come equipped with a NACS charging port, allowing direct access to Tesla Superchargers. Dodge will also include a free J1772-to-NACS adapter for use with standard public chargers.
Beyond that, the hardware remains unchanged. The electric Scat Pack still delivers 670 horsepower and 849 Nm of torque, with the PowerShot function enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in 3.3 seconds—impressive numbers, but identical to previous versions.
For 2027, Dodge will continue offering both body styles. The two-door coupe starts at $72,495, while the four-door sedan comes in at $72,995, shrinking the price gap between the two to just $500 instead of the previous $2,000 difference.
All of this points to a strategy that feels increasingly difficult to read. Raising prices on a car that hasn’t yet found its footing could be an attempt to recover high development costs, or a move to reposition the Charger Daytona as a niche, low-volume product rather than a mainstream muscle car replacement. Either way, the widening gap between heavily discounted older models and the official pricing of the 2027 Scat Pack feels hard to defend.
For many buyers, the math simply won’t work—pushing them toward Hurricane inline-six models, or even older combustion-powered Chargers that still deliver the emotional connection Dodge is known for. In the electric era, Dodge may be learning that horsepower alone isn’t enough to win hearts—or wallets.
