After a surprising sales slowdown in the United States, Dodge appears to be playing one of its most important cards yet. The American automaker has officially confirmed that the all-new Dodge Charger is heading to European markets, in a move that feels both bold and unexpected, especially as the brand tries to respond to a sharp decline in demand at home.
The New Dodge Charger Is Headed to Europe
Dodge is currently facing an unexpected challenge in what has long been its strongest market. The new-generation Dodge Charger, completely redesigned and repositioned for a new era, has not been welcomed by American muscle car fans in the way the company may have hoped.
With sales struggling in the United States, Dodge has decided to take a daring step across the Atlantic. By introducing its modern muscle car icon to European buyers, the brand is clearly hoping to open a new chapter and find fresh momentum outside its home market.
The numbers make the situation hard to ignore. During the first quarter of 2026, Dodge sold only 1,672 units of the new internal combustion-powered Charger in the United States. By comparison, the brand sold a combined 33,499 units of the Charger and Challenger during the same period in 2023. This dramatic drop explains why Dodge is now looking toward Europe as a possible lifeline.
Dodge Charger in Europe Brings American Muscle With Multiple Powertrain Options
Stellantis, Dodge’s parent company, confirmed that the new Dodge Charger will soon return to European markets as one of the clearest expressions of American car culture. But Europe is not an easy market, especially with its strict regulations and wide range of customer preferences.
For that reason, Dodge will follow a multi-energy strategy. European buyers will be offered the Charger Sixpack with gasoline-powered engines, alongside the fully electric Charger Daytona models.
Fabio Catone, Head of Dodge Europe, said:
“Bringing the Charger back to Europe is a historic moment for the brand. It allows us to reintroduce an unmistakably American nameplate to customers who appreciate strong character and authentic Dodge design.”
Engine Options and Impressive Performance Figures
Although the new Dodge Charger is facing disappointing sales results in America, it still brings serious performance credentials to the table. The car offers a wide range of powertrain options, giving European customers a choice between turbocharged gasoline power and full electric performance.
Charger R/T
The Charger R/T replaces the legendary HEMI V8 with the new Hurricane 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine. This engine produces 420 horsepower and 634 Nm of torque.
Thanks to this setup, the Charger R/T can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h, or 60 mph, in just 4.6 seconds. It can also complete the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds, keeping the spirit of American performance alive even without the classic V8 soundtrack.
Charger Scat Pack
The Charger Scat Pack takes things further with a more powerful version of the same twin-turbo inline-six engine. Output rises to 550 horsepower and 719 Nm of torque.
This extra power allows the car to sprint from 0 to 96 km/h in only 3.9 seconds, while the quarter mile is completed in 12.2 seconds. These figures show that Dodge is still serious about performance, even as it moves away from its traditional formula.
Fully Electric Charger Daytona Scat Pack
For buyers who want silent performance with serious speed, the fully electric Charger Daytona Scat Pack offers a very different kind of muscle car experience.
This version comes with a 100.5 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Total output reaches 670 horsepower and 849 Nm of torque.
The result is brutal acceleration. The electric Charger Daytona Scat Pack can go from 0 to 96 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and complete the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds.
However, this level of performance comes with one clear compromise. According to EPA estimates, the electric Charger Daytona Scat Pack offers a driving range of 430 km, or 267 miles, on a single charge.
2027 Updates and New Customization Options
Dodge has also recently revealed updates for the 2027 Charger lineup, adding 25 new customization options to make the car more personal and visually aggressive.
Electric models will also receive the North American Charging Standard, or NACS, charging port, making them more compatible with the evolving charging network.
The new customization options include premium Petrol Blue leather sport seats, bold Demonic Red seat belts, and a wide selection of exterior stripes and graphics packages. These additions are clearly designed to highlight the Charger’s muscular personality and give buyers more ways to make the car stand out.
As European customers wait for the arrival of this American muscle car in the coming months, Dodge is expected to announce official regional pricing very soon.
What do you think? Is the sharp decline in Dodge Charger sales in America mainly the result of replacing the legendary V8 engines with turbocharged and electric powertrains? And can Europe’s narrower streets truly handle a large American muscle car like the new Charger?
